Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.
God of Highschool has definitely been a game-changer in the anime industry and it continues to amaze us with its feats of glory.
The anime is more than just fighting. It carries on its shoulders emotions and the path to fulfilling your dreams. Every person entering this competition has a dream they want to be fulfilled.
Park Mujin has a little talk with Mori, Mira, and Daewi. He reveals that the opponents they faced had stolen identities to fulfill a greater task. Mori desperately wants to save his grandfather, kidnapped by Nox for reasons unknown.
A glimpse of a meaningful backstory to One of my favorite characters is also shown in this episode. Park Illpyo and his cousin entered a martial arts competition 4 years ago. His cousin, Seungou faced off against Taegal Jaek and he is such a brutal character breaks her leg, incapacitating her for a lifetime. He rips her dreams of becoming a martial artist right out of her hand. The reason behind the participation of Park Illpyo in the tournament is to save her from this unfair fate.
The match between Seoul and Chungcheongnam-do begins. It’s Han Daewi v Park Seungah. She is a hardcore martial artist, goes for the vital parts. She throws him off balance and is in a predicament. The up and down game of perseverance is a sight for sour eyes.
The thing about Han Daewi and Park Illpyo is that they want to help their loved ones no matter what. After the realization that Han Daewi can fight for himself even after the death of his friend shows his perseverance to certain situations. His burdens decreased a little bit and he was able to fight with all he had. Park Illpyo learned the same lesson as well through his cousin’s match. The main message the anime wants to showcase is to focus on yourself and all your goals may be fulfilled. Even if you are doing it for someone else.
The animation is insane in this show. The hand to hand combat is crisp, I especially like the immersive scenes where we get the fighter’s perspective. The first round goes to Han Daewi.
Jin Mori v Park Illpyo is the main event. Mori overpowered by his opponent begins to doubt his capabilities and if he is weak to save his grandfather.
At first glance, Jin Mori portrayed as a rather overpowered character, has his flaws exposed one by one. Dialed down and shown as a mortal being. On the verge of hopelessness, he finally starts thinking about how he can defeat his opponent. He uses a combination of Mira’s and Han’s attacks. He corrects his mistakes one by one and proceeds to give the viewers one of the best fights to date.
Park Illpyo is defeated and finally acknowledges Jin Mori to be a great fighter like his grandfather Jin Taejin.
While this was going on a lot of villains from the Nox have been plotting to bring out the true form of the fighters in their quest to find ‘The Key’. A lot of mystic powers play hand in hand and the leader of Nox summons God himself. Park Mujin, the commissioners, and a member of the Six in a spectacular array of combo attacks stop Nox in their tracks. Armageddon was avoided due to the intervention of these forces.
The animation along with the music in these scenes was incredible. The immersive experience this anime gives its viewers is a true testament to changing times. Mappa Studios has worked out a miracle of an anime through this and with 3 more episodes to go, it is going to be a crazy ride ahead.
Park Illpyo while he falls to the ground, a new power awakens inside him. A fox approaches him and grants him mystical powers.
“The Key is awakened!”
Until next time. See ya!
