Boruto Manga Chapter 51 : Sacrifice – Naruto’s New Form

I have got into manga reading so much that I prefer the manga over the anime. Just kidding, I love both of them equally.

Welcome back to anime reviews. Boruto Manga Chapter 51 is out and, it contained a lot of controversial information that we need to sink our teeth into to decipher. The level of information portrayed in this chapter is mind-blowing.

The main plot point of this series and the first of the events leading up to it might have been revealed. Let’s dive in.

In the last chapter, we saw Boruto jumping into the enemy’s line of sight to save his sensei Sasuke. He revealed some mind-blowing information relating to the inability that ishiki has to kill Boruto.
Boruto reveals information from when he faced off against Boro concerning the ‘divine’ tree, the ten tails.

The time limit that was in effect while Jigen was in existence had been erased due to the ‘existence’ of Boruto’s Karma seal. Boruto being a half Otsutsuki works into their equation of world domination.

Back at Konoha, Shikamaru learns the truth about the ten tails from Amado. He tells him that for it to come to life, it must be fed an Otsutki sacrifice to attain life.

Judging by this construct, ten tails needed all the powers of all the nine-tailed beast to transform. Naruto currently possesses all the abilities of the nine-tailed beasts, so can he be considered as a product of the Otsutsuki clan?

Hinata is also directly an heir to the Otsutuki clan due to their lineage. Toneri, the Otsutki member on the moon, confirmed this. So by that definition, Boruto is already a full Otsustki but, with the imprinting of the Karma seal by Momoshiki, he has become a true vessel, and hence possesses ‘great’ powers. He might be the greatest asset to Kara and cannot, under no circumstance, kill. Comment your views about my theory down below.

Amado further iterates that the reason that Otsutki invades earth in pair is so that one can be a sacrifice to the ten tails and, the other can take on that plan. Kaguya came to earth but lost knowledge regarding what she was doing. She was sealed during the events of the great ninja war and, Jigen was lurking in the darkness then. Kawaki, getting imprinted with the Karma seal, was all part of his plan. With the addition of Boruto, he has additional help.

The concept of Karma was always a fail-safe so that if either one of the Otsutki members dies, they can be revived, in their respective vessels. That is the reason why Ishikki is adamant about obtaining Kawaki.

Amado also reveals that the revelation of Boruto possessing a karma seal changed a lot of things. The relation between the power of the divine tree and the power that the sacrifice possesses is an important matter. The younger the sacrifice, the more sustenance ten tails will receive. Amado describes Boruto as a ‘very powerful’ entity, who is to become a complete Otsustki.

Kawaki is directing his pent up frustration on Amado. He is irritated because he is confined in a place. He has lost his composure and his karma seal was an inevitable weapon towards defeating Ishikki. As Boruto fights for his life against Ishikki, he is jealous and frustrated at the likeliness that he has become a useless pawn in Kara’s game.

Boruto, as a character, was not impressive. He was a brat who was selfish and always put his opinions first. He has changed so much, to an extent that, he feels like an underdog that we can root for.

Boruto removes a Kunai from his pocket and places it on his neck, and threatens to kill himself if Ishhiki moved. Ishikki shrinks Boruto’s kunai knife into a different space. Sasuke and Boruto are faced with a difficult choice. Uncertain of the life span that Ishikki posses they thinking of outrunning him.

Sasuke gets pummeled by Ishikki and Boruto as he uses a Rasengan to get shot down. Ishikki goes on a rampage and wants to break every bone in his body. He outrightly tells Boruto that he will destroy him, but he won’t kill him. He also tells him that the is to be sustenance for the ten tails.

Naruto, the Hokage of the leaf village, rushes to aid Sasuke and Boruto. Some people have said that Naruto has become a workaholic and a person who does not care for his family. I believe that he is ‘quite misunderstood’ in this aspect. His goal from the beginning was to save the whole village from danger, and he has done it time and time again. The portrayal of Naruto as a full-fledged adult is what makes this series amazing.

Naruto rushes towards Sasuke and Boruto’s location but it seems that his sensory skills have been blocked by Ishikki. Naruto is out of ideas as to what to do and asks for advice from Kurama. It’s been a long time since we have seen Kurama in the flesh. After all those long battles, Kurama has had time to rest up.

Naruto just charges in like always. It shows however old you become that, the inner child in you does not fade. Even Kurama acknowledges that. He suggests that there is something Naruto can use on Ishikki if he feels it’s a situation of do or die. Naruto agrees.

As Boruto is beneath Ishikki’s feet, strangling for his dear life, Naruto arrives and saves him. Ishikki taunts Naruto but, Naruto’s convictions are above him. He tells Kuruma that he has been ready to die ever since he thought about being the Hokage. Every Hokage in the Konoha village has sacrificed and put their lives on the line to safeguard the village and its people. It is Naruto’s turn now to do the same.

The journey with Naruto is coming to an end, and the signs are everywhere. Naruto unveils a new form. It is not the form that we have seen during the ninja war.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

The only guess I have regarding this form is due to the fusion of Hashirama cells from his hand and Kyubi Chakra. It is a new form in which Naruto may be able to use Kurama’s powers and wood-style Jutsu. His powers might amplify far greater than his body may be able to handle.

Is this the end for Naruto, The Hokage of the leaf village as we know it or, will he persevere and defeat Ishikki in his quest for justice?

Until Next time. See ya!

Boruto Chapter 50 : Potential Value

The Boruto manga has reached a point where our main characters are at an impasse. Ishikki Otsutsuki proves to be a formidable foe and nothing is going to stop him from accomplishing his goal.

Boruto teleports them all to another dimension. He uses his intellect and wit to achieve this magnificent feat. Naruto is very impressed that he might be a splitting image of himself.

Ishiki Otsutsukki is enraged and charges towards Boruto. In a flash he subdues him. This chapter provided facts regarding Boruto’s transformation. In the fight between Boro and Boruto, the transformation was a sign of 70-80% of the manifestation of Otsutki genes inside Boruto. Ishikki notices this and wants to see the full extent of his latent abilities.

Sasuke uses his Rinnegan abilities and switches places with Boruto. He uses Chidori on Ishikki but he evades and sends him flying. Fearing for his son’s life, Naruto asks Boruto to leave but Ishikki’s thirst for destruction has just begun.

Ishikki’s powers are even higher than we anticipated. He whisks Boruto away in the blink of an eye and no one can do anything about it. The author has subtly shown the power differences between these characters. Naruto and Sasuke have faced a lot of foes but this is one that they have not looked into.

Kawaki dreams about his creation. He was bestowed with the Karma seal as a symbol of his oppression. Kawaki went through a tough childhood and despised himself and his abilities for such a long time,

He wakes up from his sleep and sees Amado sitting next to him. Amado briefs him about his whereabouts and the events that took place while he was unconscious. The Leaf Village is not able to locate Boruto’s Chakra as well as Naruto’s and Sasuke’s.

Shikamaru explains to Kawaki that his karma has disappeared and he is a free bird. Kawaki knows the situation he is in and the unparalleled strength of Ishikki. Until Ishiki’s demise, Kawaki can never be a free spirit. They plan to wait out a few days so that Ishiki’s life force can gradually decrease. In doing so he will get weak and die and there will be no way he can implant a new Karma seal on Kawaki.

Naruto and Sasuke battle it out with Ishikki. Ishikki in this form skillfully dodges all their advances. Sasuke while fighting with his katana, is stopped instantly from attacking. His Katana has been shrunk to a miniature size and he is smacked on the face with a stick.

He is down for the count and exhausted. Ishikki is a bigger foe than we knew. He sets his eyes on killing Sasuke. It is very hard to believe that Sasuke could be taken down with something as meager as a smack, but of course Its Boruto’s show. Even Naruto in his nine tails form is not a match for Ishikki. Ishhikki pulls out all the stops and takes down the most powerful Shinobi in the world. It is a testament to his true strength.

Shikamaru and the other discuss Boruto’s new ability. Amado suggests that Boruto has realized something about Ishikki that none of the others can notice. It is a spectacle seeing him grow up from that snotty-nosed brat into an intellectual shinobi.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Boruto dives in front of Ishikki as he is about to execute Sasuke. He takes Sasuke to a safe place and evades Ishikki. He figures that something odd is going on with Ishikki. It was quite valiant of him to sacrifice his life like that to save his teacher. Boruto has received the respect of the entire Naruto fandom with that single action.

Amado tells them that, Boruto might as well be the ‘Key’ to winning this fight. He might be the one to stop Ishikki.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

I believe that according to the law of the Otsutsuki clan, killing is prohibited between the members. The transfer of power is the only way to end someone’s life and for that to happen they need consent. Momoshiki was the one who consumed one of his disciples. At the beginning of Boruto, if you remember Toneri, the clan member who lived on the moon wasn’t killed by Momishiki, he was just petrified, turned into stone. According to these laws killing within the clan is humanely impossible for Ishikki Otsutsuki and hence Boruto cannot be killed. He might be the only one who can defeat Ishikki Otsutsuki.

Tell me what your views are on my theory. Until Next time. See ya!

Boruto Chapter 49 : Prepared – A Review

Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review. I know I’m too late for this post but still wanted to review it because some awesome things are happening in Boruto. Let’s dive in.

Ishhikki Otsustuki has entered the vicinity of Konoha. He is hell-bent on finding Kawaki. The citizens of the town realize that there is a change in the atmosphere as he looms around in the sky.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Konoha village preparing to deal with any casualties has been doing so for a long and they still stand strong amid an attack. Shikamaru advises the police squad to evacuate the village as soon as possible. He wants everyone to move fast and no one to engage Otsustukhi. The priority of attacking Othsutsuki will be for Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto heads out to battle.

I had this feeling when I saw the third Hokage head out for battle and we all know how that ended. The fear that either Sasuke or Naruto might die is alarming towards the citizens of Konoha as well as our fans.

Ishikki Otsutuki seems to be a very intellectual villain but his actions speak louder than his words. He repels a shuriken attack of one of the shinobis and kills them. Mercy is not an option for Ishikki at this point.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Back at the interrogation room, as Sai is about to take Kawaki out through the underground tunnels Amado warns them that the enemy possesses a Byakugan. and they might stand out when transporting Kawaki. Sai explains that that won’t be an issue because the safety protocol for such events has already been initiated.

Over the years Konoha village has grown strong. Its become so high tech and so modern that preparation for almost any kind of attack exists. They have sensory ninja out on the lookout, they have tunnels to mask any kind of visual prowess. I figure that most of the people set this up after Pain’s attack on Konoha. Naruto has become a good Hokage I feel.

Boruto disheartened about not being able to help his father receives advice from Sasuke. His dilemma is understandable and as a teacher, it’s his job to intervene. At that same moment, Naruto rushes to face Ishikki Otsutsuki. Ishikki’s stunned to see Naruto alive and well after imprisoning him in that object.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Sasuke and Boruto discuss their attack plan. Sasuke speaks about them being at a disadvantage against Ishikki. Them together at their full potential were not enough to stop Ishiki. He hears from Sarada that Boruto underwent a change that made him defeat Boro in an instant.

Boruto has fears relating to this power and the more he uses he is vulnerable to possession by Momoshiki. Sasuke promises to take care if something like that ever happens. Boruto possesses a mindset much like Sasuke. They are similar in many aspects but Boruto has the heart of Naruto as well as the wit of Sasuke. Most people don’t get this symbolism but it is quite open in the manga. The anime fails to depict this feature of Boruto’s psyche.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

The battle between Naruto and Ishikki begins. Naruto as a leader always appreciates his fellow shinobi. They go against each other mercilessly until a victor arises. When Naruto was down Sasuke appears and teleports in place of Ishikki. The two main characters are together.

I didn’t like one aspect of this chapter. They used the same maneuver used against Momoshiki on Ishikki. There should be some kind of innovation when you reach this stage of the story but they insist on doing it again. The consistency of this anime is not good. Sometimes it gets better and sometimes it keeps repeating the same stuff.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

As usual, Sasuke fakes an attack and throws his katana towards Ishiki. He tries to shrink the object but he is not able to. To his surprise, Boruto emerges and teleports them to another place. They are teleported to Barron land outside Konoha. Away from the danger so that they may fight.

This is also a problem. No training at all but still Boruto manages to learn something new. Sasuke learned teleportation after so many years of attaining the Rinnegan and this kid learns to do that in an instant. Being protege is one thing but this level of evolution is impossible. The writers should focus on that aspect.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Boruto remembers a heartwarming moment. He asks for the headband with a cross on the leaf symbol. Sasuke’s headband is passed on to Boruto and this might be foreshadowing the death of Sasuke. The question of Sasuke dying or Naruto dying is 50-50 at the least. We will have to wait and see what happens.

The battle is about to begin. The question remains. Will this battle be a turning point for Konoha or will it mean the beginning of the destruction of the world.

Until next time! See ya!

Boruto Chapter 48 : Time Limit – A Review

Hey everyone!
I’m back with another review.
Today we are going to discuss Chapter 48 of Boruto.

There has been a very mixed reaction for the anime but the manga is straight-up fire. It has been invigorating in as many ways a possible.
Let’s dive in.

Introduction:

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is a Japanese manga series written by Ukyo Kodachi and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto. Boruto is a manga series which is a sequel to the acclaimed Naruto series. It revolves around Boruto, the son of Naruto, and follows his path to a dystopian future where he fights with Kawaki to restore the Shinobi way.

Synopsis of the Chapter:

In the last chapter, we were introduced to the true form of Jigen. His vessel was weakened and he showed his true face. We also got to know that Kashin Koji was a clone of Jiraya.

According to Kashin Koji and his partner Amado. The Karma seal is a reincarnation seal that an Otsutsuki can use to reincarnate themself with. Kawaki’s seal disappeared when Kashin Koji’s true form was revealed meaning that if he was destroyed now he can never be reborn.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Kashin Koji tries his best to eradicate Ishiki Otsustsuki with all his powers. Even in that weak state, Kashin Koji is dominated by him. He tells Kashin Koji that he was being used as a pawn for Amado to escape. He is an artificial clone made to fulfill Amado’s plan to escape and warn Konoha of the attack that is to occur.

Ishhiki Otsutsuki explains he has 2-3 days until his current state overpowers him, hence destroying him.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

The scene cuts to Konoha where Amado is in the custody of Naruto and Shikamaru. He has been granted protection under Konoha and right to be a citizen there as well in exchange for the information he has provided them. He warns them that Kashin Koji is not strong enough to defeat Ishiki and he will attempt to implant Kawaki with a Karma seal again. For him to get resurrected again he requires the Karma seal.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Amado warns them that he may teleport here at any time and take away Kawaki. Naruto and Sasuke are the only ones who can protect Kawaki and avoid something happening like that. Time is running out and catastrophe is around the corner.

In the next scene, Kashin Koji launched and an entourage of attacks on Ishiki. Flames, a giant Rasengan, and more flames. Unfortunately, all of them are evaded and Kashin Koji is dominated. Ishiki summons 3 pillars from a different dimension, instantly crushing Kashin Koji in his path.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Kashin Koji uses a summoning Jutsu in a last attempt to finish him off. A big toad appears and tries to swallow Ishiki as well as Koji. Ishikki evades this attack smoothly like the dangerous criminal he is. A villain with a fixed focus of what he wants for his next goal is a dangerous one and no one can stop that. Ishiki Otsutsuki teleports to somewhere instantly.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Naruto and Boruto argue in the office of the Hokage. Boruto wants to fight along with them to stop Ishiki. Naruto is concerned and tells him that the enemy is a monster and they will take care of it. Boruto is concerned with the results of their previous battle and what that means for them now.

Photo Courtesy : Boruto: Naruto Next Generations– Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump

Sasuke says that they are willing to die for the village and ask if Boruto is ready to do the same. In that instant Naruto is alerted of an unknown Chakra source entering Konoha. It is non-other than Ishiki Otsutsuki.

My review:

This episode was exciting. For the past few chapters, many secrets have revealed and many twists have been made in the story. Boruto just keeps getting better and better but I would rather not say that for the anime. There is a cloud of doubt upon Naruto and Sasuke’s fate. Boruto may have to step up but I don’t see him or any of his classmates in a good position to deal with this issue.
Will this be the end of Naruto and Sasuke?
Will they survive this attack?
Tell me your theories in the comments.
