Halloween is around the corner and, the anime that have recently released are all in the horror genre. Out of all of them, my favorite would have to be Jujutsu Kaisen.
The series is so catchy, feels modern, the animation is top-notch and, the story is one of a kind with a new perspective.
Welcome back to another anime review. Today we will be discussing Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 3.
Nobara Kugisaki is the third first-year enrolled in Jujutsu Tech. Itadori, Fushigoru, and Gojou have arrived at the airport to escort her.
At first glance, she is a nit-picky girl, judges people before she gets to know them, but there is a certain ‘sweet’ relatable factor to it. Satoru Gojo is also one of my favorite characters. He is funny and insanely powerful at the same time.
He promises Itadori and Nobara a trip around Tokyo but, they stumble upon an abandoned building in Roppongi and, it turns out to be a test.
According to the logic behind jujutsu sorcery, graveyards attract curses because of the emotion instilled in people regarding ghosts. The stronger those emotions are the, stronger the curses will be. The main difference between a big city like Tokyo and the countryside is that curses’ strength is directly proportional to the population density of the area.
Gojo has gifted a blade to Yuji to cut curses down in an instant, and Nobara has weapons of her own. This anime sticks to its ‘basic’ genre, horror. It skillfully develops the eerie atmosphere that the story needs. Curses, voodoo, and such satanic practices are the name of the game.
Yuji comes into contact with a spirit and, he takes him down in quick succession. His physical attributes are a plus point to his skill. As he is inexperienced in dissipating cursed energy, he makes that up in an athletic and innate sense.
Nobara is the central figure of this episode. It is the first time meeting her and, making us fall in love with her in the first episode is a feat in itself. She uses nails infused with cursed energy to destroy a demon who was masking itself inside a mannequin.
A boy emerges out of nowhere, scared, and not knowing what to do. A cursed spirit comes from behind and takes the boy in his custody. He threatens to kill him and, Nobara has no choice.
Nobara has had a hard life. Her friend was ostracised from society and made to leave home for not following the belief of some people. It had a horrifying effect on Nobara. She is almost about to give up her life when suddenly, Yuji smacks open a cavity in the wall.
He grabs hold of the kid and rescues him. The cursed spirit is about to escape and in the knick of time, Nobara saves the day. She uses voodoo and pierces the cursed spirit’s hurt, in turn, subduing it.
Both of them have excelled at their tests, and it is time for the next step. The dynamic of the group is very happening. Even if the anime is horror and cultish, it brings to it a certain level of relatability.
It is enjoyable for the fans, and it also sticks to the source material and never waivers away from it.
In the last scene, a disturbing event is showcased. A floating cursed fetus is seen by normal humans. The story shifts in a different direction and, it might not be something we fans can handle.
Hello everyone! Welcome back to another exciting anime review.
Jujutsu Kaisen is back with its 2nd episode and, it is all that we have ever wanted. The story unravels in an exciting turn of events.
Satoru Gojo arrives at the scene of the massacre. Fushigoru is down and suffering from injuries.
Satoru Gojo is a goofy guy, fun-loving but, when he buckles down, he is a monster at martial arts. He is intrigued by Yuji, who has swallowed the cursed object.
He wants to go head first against him in his transformed state for 10 seconds. Satoru Gojo is so confident that if Yuji goes out of control, he can definitely stop him.
Being a manga reader, Satoru Gojo is a literal beast. He is powerful and one of the most entertaining characters that Jujutsu Kaisen has to offer.
For 10 seconds, Yuji, possessed by Sukuna, spars against Gojou and still couldn’t lay a finger on him. He was so fast that he whooped the living daylights out of Sukuna. It’s just the second episode, and the fight was truly impressive. The animation was clean and, Gojou Satoru is my favorite, hands down.
Yuji shockingly gains control of Sukuna as promised and, he is subdued by Gojou after. Fushigoru requests Gojou that Yuji not be executed as a curse and, his teacher gladly acknowledges his request.
Back in the creepy room where Itadori is shackled, Gojo explains to him about the fingers and the demon that is Ryoumen Sukuna. Yuji is given two options. Either be executed directly or consume all 20 parts of the fingers and be executed. In the end, he has to die, but the notion behind the decision is what counts.
The great thing about this anime adaptation is that they are sticking as close as they can to the source material. The continuity is not being interrupted and, the world-building of Jujutsu Kaisen given importance.
Unlike God of Highschool, Jujutsu Kaisen focuses on fleshing out its characters and the world before entering into the fight sequences. The animators did a great job regarding this, and it is to be appreciated.
Yuji Itadori is a highschool kid, and facing such circumstances in his life is traumatizing. He visits the hospital to meet his seniors who, were injured in the aftermath of the incident at school. He sees for himself that leaving curses to roam free around the aura of Sukuna’s cursed fingers is not something he can allow. He also cremates his grandfather, who passed away on the night of the incident. The author subtly compares death and unnatural death in such a way as to pave the way for Yuji to make a difficult decision.
Gojo tells Itadori that it isn’t an easy task to become a Jujutsu sorcerer, and he may come across unnatural and gruesome deaths along the way. Yuji decided that for the greater good, he has to do it. He decides to follow his grandfather’s last words and eat all the parts of Sukuna. He doesn’t care what happens after that, but the choice of choosing how you die is what will drive him forward. It sounds like twisted logic, but the emotion and belief behind it are what matters. Freedom to choose is what is conveyed.
When I first read the manga, Jujutsu technical school in Tokyo was a spectacle to behold. The architecture, the environment it was situated in was so engaging. The anime has brought that same feeling to me. The environments, the Japanese culture, and the artistic originality of the vicinity is mesmerizing and needs to be appreciated. They have done so much justice to this anime that it makes me teary-eyed thinking about it.
Ryoumen Sukuna surfaces on Yuji’s skin and threatens Gojo. After possessing Yuji’s body, the first person he was going to kill was Gojo. Gojo being a confident guy is honored that Ryoumen Sukuna wants to kill him. He accepts the challenge.
Satoru Gojon describes Ryomen Sukana as a demon with four arms who revealed over the world 1000 years ago and was considered the King of curses.
Let’s dig a bit deeper into Japanese Folklore. The Sukuna was a two-faced demon who, according to the “Chronicles of Japan” (compiled in 720), ruled the Hida region with an iron fist until it was conquered by Emperor Nintoku (313-399). It had one face in front and one in the back and had four arms and legs. In two arms it held bows and arrows. Woodworking people of Hida, Enku depicted him with an ax instead. He put the two faces in front, one friendly, one with a wild expression. In Hida, this deity is seen, as the founder of the domain, Hida no Kuni. Hida folklore, however, claims that he defeated an evil dragon and is an incarnation of Kannon with the power to grant salvation. While “Nihonshoki” described Ryomen-sukuna as a villain and an enemy of the emperor, people in Hida and Mino Provinces treated Ryomen-sukuna as a hero and benefactor and worshipped him. I believe that this is the same character that the author has based his demon on. According to the lore, maybe Ryoumen Sukuna could turn out to be a savior, but a villainous one at that.
Yuji is introduced to the principal Yaga Masamichi. He looks like a cool guy but is seen, making toys. It was very contradictory at first, but when we saw the use of his skills, the world was introduced to a really cute and fierce form of fighting.
The principal was quite straightforward at asking the reasons behind Yuji joining the school. He sets his green bear doll to attack Yuji and was ordered to not back down until he got a proper answer from Yuji.
The conversation between the principal and Yuji was really interesting. It was a battle between the convictions and beliefs of 2 different people. Trying to find common ground and the hope of educating Yuji of what it means to be a Jujutsu sorcerer.
Yuji Itadori, tells him straight forward that he doesn’t know how he will die or what will be the circumstances, but he doesn’t want to live a life in regret. He is the only one who can consume Sukuna and, he is going to achieve that. The story is well thought out and, the characteristics of each person are very well portrayed in this anime. It especially conveys to the audience.
Yuji is accepted into Jujutsu technical Highschool. His journey begins. Satoru Gojo is a friendly and likable character. More than anything, I feel he cares for his students the most. He tells Yuji that he is now a vessel and a tracker to find the missing pieces of Sukuna. It’s a bumpy road ahead and, they are off to pick up the 3rd first-year student.
The highlight of this episode is the ending song. It reminds of the ’70s with its hip-hop genre and, watching it you, just want to groove with your favorite characters. I have been watching it on repeat for two days now. It’s just unbelievable. This anime is looking better and better with each passing episode. For an anime that is surrounded by eerie mystery, curses, and demons, there is a little fun in it as well.
Hello everyone! Welcome back to another mysterious anime review.
I have tried to keep updated with all the latest anime as much as I can and, I try to give my reviews and opinion regarding the same.
I was perusing through the web and stumbled on a review that Irina, a friend of mine, had written. I got so interested in the concept and thought to give it a try.
Here I am with the review for Noblesse: Awakening. Noblesse is a Korean Manhwa written by Son Jeho and illustrated by Lee Kwangsu. Posted in 2007 on Webtoon, and the story was concluded in 2019.
Noblesse Awakening is an OVA that gives a proper introduction to the story. Before you watch the Crunchy roll produced ‘Noblesse’ you should give this a watch. Otherwise, you won’t get an idea regarding the ‘story.’
The premise of the story talks about a Noble who existed many millennia ago, who protected the Nobles of the land who were targetted by humans. After years of slumber, he emerges from a Coffin and returns to the world that we know today. He is a vampire who existed almost 820 years ago and is known as the Noblesse.
What grabbed my eye about this anime is its gripping story and the tone it conveys. It is eerie as well as very classy. It feels like a slice of life anime but also enters and builds it’s world effectively.
Noblesse is a powerful noble who goes by the name of Cadis Etrama Di Raizel. He awakens from his slumber in an abandoned building in South Korea and, is introduced to the new world. He wanders into a school that is run by his old servant Frankenstein.
Frankenstein runs a high school and, he works as a director there. His master is amazed by the new world and wants to engulf himself into what it had to offer. He enrolls as a student in Ye Ran Highschool. He befriends three students Shinrwu, Ikhan, and Yuna (Shinrwu’s love interest).
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel preferred to be known as Rai get accustomed to many things in the new world. He is very open to new things and quite optimistic.
Many suspicious people from the villain organization arrive at the scene in hopes of finding the remnants of the coffin. M-24 and M-21 are part of the organization and are acting with different intentions to find the Noblesse while their superiors are the real villains who want to go terrorizing Japan.
An incident involving Rai’s newly acquainted friends leaves them as targets for the organization to hunt. They are ‘captured,’ and the Director of the school Frankenstein is informed about their whereabouts.
The animation quality is really clear and refined. You won’t see one grey area that would catch your eye. It feels like a mix of slice of life mixed in with gruesome scenes. The portrayal of Rai is the best part, and it truly conveys the atmosphere of the anime to the viewers.
Frankenstein and Rai head towards the co-ordinates where they face the villains who are waiting for them. I cannot explain through words how this scene got me hooked on this anime. Frankenstein was damn strong but, Rai was savage.
The scene where he doesn’t look Jake in the eye and uses his power to make him kneel while saying that scum like him deserve to be beneath him conveys the royalty and superiority underlying in his character.
The dialogues, the soundtracks, and the animation are top-notch in this anime. The story is truly incredible and gripping. The characters are so relatable and vibrant and suit the environment that they are placed in. It was a treat watching this show and, I know that you would love it too.
Hello everyone! Welcome back to another anime review.
Haikyu to the top cour 2 epsiode 2 is back and, it’s going strong. The series has been going fast-paced as expected. In each episode, almost three chapters are adapted.
To recap: The Miya Twins left us stunned. They effectively copied Hinata and Kageyama’s freak shot and left the Karasuno team gasping for air. The trust between the two brothers is key to this move. The one hitting the ball knows that the ball will be there for them no matter what.
Inarizaki continues its decisive and bold game to subdue Karasuno. Karasuno doesn’t back out even one bit. The thing about Karasuno is that they adapt to situations and always try to do new things.
When Hinata tried to jump as high as possible and awed both teams, alas to their dismay, he failed to hit a shot. Even amongst strong teams, they want to prove their metal and take out the opponent team.
Coach Ukai devises a plan to stop the Miya Twins momentum. He places Hinata as a blocker on Osamu Miya. He is the receiver towards the unique freak quick and, that’s their best chance at defending.
As they go on to hit the ball, Osamu’s attempt is thwarted by Karasuno’s no. 10 Hinata Shoya. He leaps, blocks, and scores from that shot. The atmosphere in the stadium changes into an ecstatic one in an instant.
Hinata has jumped leaps and bounds since we first saw him. From a kid who wanted ‘to just spike the ball’, he has learned to love the defensive aspects of the game. The way he sets an underhand set to Azumane makes us proud of him. He also blocks the ball in such a way that Nishinoya was given an opening to receive the ball. Instead of instinct, Hinata is using his intellect and experience to face strong opponents.
My only concern about the animation is that they aren’t getting Hinata’s eyes right. In the manga, it’s more filled with passion, determined and bold while, in the anime is has been downsized to show us a character who is determined but a little bit crazy. In some scenes, they do capture the beauty of Hinata, but in most, they fail to do so.
Kinoshita is given a chance to shine in this battle and with the motivation given by his coach, he manages to serve the way he wants. His shot was commandeered, but no worries, he learns a lesson to get better as much as possible.
Tanaka manages to get his shots through but he seems to struggle a lot while doing so. His motivation and energy are being slowly tarnished by the resilient Inarizaki court. It is a glimpse of what is to be seen in the next episode.
Tsukishima has always been a salty diva amid the Karasuno team and, he hasn’t changed one bit. What has changed is that he tries to do things more and does not half-heartedly to stuff. He blocks the quick with immense pleasure because he has always wanted to stop ‘the quick’ that Kageyama and Hinata does. He also jumps up to the highest point on Kagayama serve to score a point.
Yamaguchi is up on the line and ready to serve, but to his surprise, he does not have a point to reset his mind. The sign is blocked by a banner. The mentor saves his pupil by presenting himself with a new reset point and, our boy gets the service ace.
This episode was brilliant with new animation and everything. It is a surprise that an anime could be this good. The Haikyu anime is one of the best in the world and no one can get enough of it. Can’t wait for the next match. The score is tied. Who will catch hold of the momentum? Will Tanaka ‘be pushed’ to the limit or, will he persevere and take back his mojo?
Hello everyone! Its a new day and, its time for a new anime review.
I have been excited for this anime adaptation ever since I read the manga. The pacing, the story, the characters, and the scenery, everything was so appealing. I experienced it through reading and, I thought of how they can top that?
Well, I’ll tell you how. Let’s discuss Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami and published by Shueisha shonen jump magazine. It revolves around Yuji Itadori, a highschool teen who consumes a cursed object and becomes a vessel for a demon. He stumbles into a world of cursed spirits, sorcery, and the dangers that come with it.
The animation has been done by non-other than Mappa Studios. Mappa has been on a roll this year with their ‘hyped’ series God of Highschool which, ended last week and an upcoming final season of Attack on Titan releasing in December. The animation is fluid. The colors bring out the eerie atmosphere portrayed by the series.
Yuji Itadori is shackled to a chair, in a locked room surrounded by lanterns and seals to drive away spirits. Sitting in front of him is a mysterious man, Satoru Gojo, who tells him that he is to going to be executed secretly. Shocking right? What would happen if the main character got killed in the beginning?.
Well, we will have to wait and see what happens. Let’s talk about the opening. The animation is flawless that nothing else can happen but to embrace its brilliance. The level of detail is like a Makoto Shinkai movie. Of course, there are a lot of spoilers in the opening but, they don’t let go of many things. Each character shown in that opening is damn interesting.
This anime’s premise is different than all those conventional anime. ‘ I want to be this great figure that everyone looks up to and respects’ this is not what the anime is about. The central focus of this anime is death. Death is inevitable, and everyone will die one day. Yuji Itadori is a teen who faces a lot of hardships in his life.
His grandfather is hospitalized and, no one looks after him. Yuji doesn’t know the identity of his parents and, his grandfather is all he has. Yuji attends Sugisawa Highschool and he is a part of the occult research club. He is accompanied by his seniors Sasaki and Iguchi. They research about paranormal activities and they came up with the theory that the football field might be haunted. The narration of this story is the funniest part.
Another ‘important’ member of this story is Megumi Fushigoru is a sorcerer who is on a mission to find a ‘special grade’ cursed object. He fails to find it at the intended spot and widens his range. He reaches Yuji’s school and, there he sees Yuji challenged by his field coach. Megumi is astonished by the sheer strength of Yuji, who doesn’t even use curse energy like Megumi.
He wins the Match and saves the occult research club from being disbanded. He runs towards the hospital where his grandfather is admitted in. As Megumi and Yuji cross paths, he senses cursed energy brewing inside Yuji and decides to follow him.
Yuji’s grandfather has many regrets in life and doesn’t want the same for Yuji. He tells him to help people unconditionally without expecting anything. He wants that people must be with him when he dies and so that he doesn’t end up like his grandfather. This scene is what builds a base for the premise of this show. Death is inevitable, and everyone will die one day. Yuji wants a death deserving of people. He doesn’t want anyone ending up dead in a gruesome or brutal way. That is what Yuji aims to accomplish.
He passes away and, this hits Yuji bad. As he is filling the form, Megumi arrives and introduces him to Yuji. He asks about the cursed object and tells him that it’s dangerous for him to be even around it. He tells him about the club and their activities, and that they plan to peel off the object to uncover the secret of that object.
They rush towards the school, but they are too late. The curses have risen from beyond and are latching itself to Sasaki and Iguchi. The fight scenes are just incredible. Megumi is a character that can be loved a lot, and he is a righteous man no matter what.
Yuji remembers the words said by his grandfather and decides to take matters into his own hands. As Sasaki and Iguchi are being swallowed by the curse Yuji flies in through the window and saves them. He believes that everyone should get a proper death and this isn’t one such like that.
Megumi explains that the cursed object, the finger is a part of Ryoumen Sukuna, a cursed spirit who lived along time ago. He explains that if anyone swallows it then, Ryoumen Sukuna will take over their body and wreak vengeance on the world.
The curse comes back to finish what it started. Megumi gets hurt and is in a sticky position. Yuji steps to save him and, he believes that he can go against this curse. He has been captured by the curse and is going to be killed. He swallows the cursed finger and attains the power of Ryoumen Sukuna. He wipes out the cursed spirit in one blow.
As epic as it was, the curse has taken over Yuji’s body. Ryoumen Sukuna is reborn. Yuji, however, gains control of his body again but, he has to face Megumi now. He means to exorcise the curse Yuji Itadori.
The series is off to a good start. The pace is good and they aren’t rushing things. They are adapting one manga chapter per episode and I appreciate that. The next episode is one to look forward to. You are not ready for the beast known as Satoru Gojo.
It’s is an exciting week for the animeverse and, I welcome you all to an exciting anime review. The wait is finally over. Haikyu To The Top Cour 2 has finally arrived, the anticipation is brewing.
Being an avid manga reader, I have to save ever since reading about this match, I’ve been ecstatic about the anime. How will they amaze us with the animation and Yuki Hayashi Senpai’s music in the background?
Those answers have been delivered and, we’re off to a great start.
A small recap. Inarizaki V Karasuno is the penultimate starting leg to this fantastic tournament. Atsumu Miya amazes everyone with his finesse and crazy serve. The double wielding abilities that help him in serving the ball have Karasuno up against the corner.
Worry not because our boy Hinata is up for the challenge. He gets ecstatic just like us and jumps as high as he can but forgets to hit the ball. It’s an embarrassing moment, but at the same time, we all felt what he felt. 😀
Atsumu and Tanaka have the same reaction to it and, I love every single part of this coincidence.
The new opening is really good and it will grow on you after 2-3 listenings.
This episode was all about laying the groundwork for this match. The rhythm of the game keeps changing and on the problematic end is Karasuno. Whenever they serve, the crowd boos and hisses at them, and the beat they use is to put them off their rhythm and make them miss their shots. It’s quite an effective way of throwing off your opponent and, Inarizaki is cautious of that.
After a long time, our freak duo gives us back the magic. Hinata runs up first into the middle and does a slide hit. The freak duo is back and, that’s what we’re here for. Hoshuimi’s expression is the funniest. He didn’t expect someone like him in this tournament. Bokuto is proud of his pupil and, the game is on!!! The first hit is always a killer.
The episode is rightly named rhythm. The whole premise of this episode relies on the rhythm. One-half step or beat missed can spell doom for either team when playing. Inarizaki does not just consist of the team on the court, but they also consist of their cheer squad exerting pressure on the opponent team. In a way, Inarizaki is broadening its reach to bring the game in their grasp.
Inarazaki team’s servers have different rhythms. Rintaro Suna serves at the exact moment as they blow the whistle startling the opponent team while Osamu waits until the end of the 8 seconds after the whistle to throw Karasuno off their rhythm. This way, they create gaps in the defense and disrupt the balance. It doesn’t look like much in the beginning, but slowly and steadily, they are paving a path to deceit.
Saeiko Tanaka, the savior of rhythm, has arrived. Ever since reading the manga, this is one scene I have been waiting to see animated. Her entrance, along with her group was a game-changer for Karasuno. Flutes and Teiko drums provided the team with a steady rhythm to match that of Inarizaki’s. She wouldn’t let the same mistake that happened during the Interhigh final.
Daisho Suguru is the captain of the Nohebi Academy Volleyball team. For those of you who don’t know him, I suggest you watch him in the Haikyu Ova Riku vs. Kuu. His match with Nekoma was a deciding factor for their arrival in the nationals.
Haruichi Furudate is a skilled author. He inculcates volleyball terms and rules into the story in a smooth narrative way. Suguru and his girlfriend are the ones who will narrate all that we need to know in the match and all the upcoming matches. This method of commentary is what makes Haikyu’s flow going and make it worthwhile to watch and read.
As Hinata goes in for the service, to neutralize the effects of Inarizaki’s drumbeat, Karasuno’s cheer squad plays a soothing drum beat to help him out. It’s all just as I imagined. Perfection!!!
Hinata uses his intuitive skills to position himself in the right place where the block has an opening. He goes to receive the ball, but it misses his hand and hits his leg and is still in play. He gets a bit embarrassed, but he tries to rectify his mistake and plays decoy, to pave a path for Captain Sawamura to spike the ball into Inarizaki’s court.
It doesn’t waiver Inarizaki from their path not even a little. Inarizaki is a well-rounded team. They have players who play to perfection. Atsumu Miya was a setter who was called to the Japan Junior camp along with Kageyama. Every stance he takes before a set, and his double wielding of serves are something close to a miracle. Even Kagayama himself acknowledges this skill. The final blow to destroy Karasuno’s morale is being devised by Atsumu and Osamu Miya.
Atsumu serves, Nishinoya lifts the ball, but it’s short and, Azumane can’t properly hit the ball. Inarizaki’s libero grabs the ball and, Atsumu Miya does something crazy. This scene sends literal chills down my spine. He sets the ball exactly the same way as Kageyama sets to Hinata. The weirdo-quick set is no more ‘special.’ Atsumu and Osamu Miya have synced and concocted something sinister to defeat Karasuno.
How will Karasuno respond? Will their morale be destroyed or, will they step up to the challenge and take away this advantage from Inarizaki?
Hello Everyone! Welcome back to another exciting anime review. This week is going to be crazy!!!!!! People are referring to these coming months to be the best fall for anime. We’ve got a lot of new anime coming up and seasons too.
‘ Burn the witch’ is a limited manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo, an accomplished manga writer who is also the author of ‘ Bleach.’ Apart from some references, this anime is not similar to bleach. It is a different anime and, all you can do is dive into the anime and enjoy it.
So let’s dive in.
We are introduced to an alternate side of London. Reverse- London. It is a beautiful place where magic flourishes and dragons are an integral part of society. So much so that if you are even a meter close to them, it is a penal offense.
Ninny Spangcole, who is quite a star in London, is chased by Paparazzi one minute and, the next minute, she’s ready to fight magical creatures.
Noel Nihaashi is a very calm witch, who cares for creatures and excels at magic. She is partnered with Nina to do her daily duties.
It’s hard to believe that the author has subtly, directed our attention involuntarily into this world and I feel it is a true feat of magic. The world grows upon you as you watch the series. The animation in this is so flawless and beautiful you imagine if you’re in a Ghibli movie.
The day turns a bit interesting when Balgo Parx, a member of the dragon clad flies up above the sky, whilst clinging to a rope attached to the cutest, dragon- dog you can find. The hilarious words that are coming out of its mouth need to be censored for now and to be only seen on tv.
They finally catch up to him and rescue him from the shackles off his stupid debacles. He snags against a chimney and falls. A person over there almost touches the dragon-dog Osushi-chan but, he evades somehow. The penalty for even just touching the dragon or breeding is 100 years in prison or death.
Noel is a calm and collected girl while her partner Ninny is a proactive, proud, and moody one. Somehow they kind of suit each other. Through this journey, the viewers are introduced to the follies and dangers of this world and also the beauty that surrounds it. The Wing Bind and the Society protects citizens from any danger whatsoever.
Noel knows Balgo and Osucshi personally, and she knows that osuschi won’t grow his wings and fly off unnecessarily. Balgo also claims that he hasn’t done anything goofy to tick off his dog. She concludes that Balgo might be in danger and that’s why Osuchi reacted the way he did.
At that exact moment emerged a big white dragon, trying to get a slice of Balgo. Noel uses a gun that uses mana to subdue the dragon. It comes down way to easy but the dangerous situation has not surpassed. It seems as though that the dragon is a rare kind of breed and its capture is a necessary thing towards their survival.
Reverse London is equipped with many protocols to tackle dragons. It is a fortified area where all the precautions can be taken. Both the girls decide to take matters into their own hands. Instead of calling for back up, they decide to prove themselves in front of their superiors.
Both of them try to distract the creature and take it out. It is headless and, there are a lot of weak spots they can hit. The magical spells used are really good to look at. Their effectiveness is portrayed through the flawless animation. When Noel uses a spell to send mana spears to subdue the dragon, it was the most epic scene ever.
Since it is a limited series, the story moves very fast. It skips to a round table of many prestigious and powerful people. Just like the times of Yore, a roundtable consisting of a king and his valiant knights.
The Wing Bind Supreme Powers watch the events transpiring through a viewing device. One by one, they are introduced and, each person has an independent personality. They potentially fear the existence of the dragon clad Balgo Parx and wants him eliminated. Their superior is involved in this and, things start to escalate from there.
This anime has a special kind of genuine persona and I feel its worth the watch. It bases its premise around fairytail creatures. The concept of witches and wizards, worldbuilding, many interesting characters, and flawless animation are something to look forward to. The London scenery is mesmerizing and glorious, just like this anime.
Hello Everyone! Welcome back to another anime review. Today, we’ll be talking about an anime that I loved and got hooked on in the first episode.
Enn Enn No Shoubutai( Fire Force), a marvelous manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo, revolves around Shinra Kusakabe, a young cadet fresh out from the academy. He joins the Fire Force Unit 8 and aims to be a hero.
This anime caught my eyes, not just for the visuals but the sound. Every action is followed by a specific sound that you can feel radiating through your body. The animation is spot on and the characters are splendid.
We will be discussing the introductory arc for this series.
Episode 1 : Shinra Kusakabe Enlists
Its the Solar year 198 and humanity as we know it is no more. The earth succumbed to a great catastrophe that made most of the people extinct. A new world is formed and each generation of children possess the ability to create and manipulate flames.
The first scene starts with a person catching on fire instantaneously. These phenomenons have been occurring around the world and hence the fire force has been formed. These beings are called Infernals and they are dammed creatures who walk the earth. The fire force team 8 arrives at the scene and take out the infernal.
What I liked about the anime is that they have focused on world-building and the relationship the characters share. They have laid the foundation for that and then have moved to the central premise of the story.
Shinra Kusakabe is a third-generation pyrokinetic and is a person who can generate flames from within his body. He is rightly called a devil. Captian Akitaru Obi is a regular human possessing no abilities but his leadership qualities and unwavering moral sense are what keeps the team together( he is my favorite character ). Takaehisha Hinawa, the lieutenant of the squad, and Maki-San are second-generation pyrokinetic and she manipulates fire. Hinawa uses firearms and with flame bullets in them and Maki is a badass who has brains. brawns and kickass fighting style. Sister Iris is the designated Sister who has trained under the Holy Sol temple.
The concept of reading the final rights before putting an infernal to rest is a highlight in this anime. It shows the sign of compassion and forgiveness in dark times.
Shinra Kusakabe lost his mother and little brother in a fire. Ever since he was a little boy, he wanted to be a hero, and his mother is the one who supported his dream. Losing her is the reason why he wanted to save people.
Shinra Kusakabe’s first mission goes a bit south for him yet with the help of his new team, triumphs over it. The team works together to give Shinra his first chance at putting an infernal to rest.
This anime is a dedication to all the wonderful firefighters out there who risk their lives to save us. The emotions towards the fire force depicted in the anime speak a thousand words.
Episode 2: The Heart Of A Fire Soldier
This whole arc is an introductory arc. The premise, the characters, and the system that the world moves around are discussed in it. A story must have a solid footing so that it can flourish and resonate with its audience.
A new member arrives at the fire force company 8 cathedral. Arthur Boyle, a rival to Shinra Kusakabe and a recruit for the fire force company 8. He is a weird one. Self-boasting, ‘ Mr. Popular’ if you may. Shinra and Arthur get into a duel from the start itself. It is always good to have contrasting characters and this show has plenty of them. Arthur is also a third-generation pyrokinetic who uses a sword powered by a condensed plasma flame.
Maki-San goes against both Shinra and Arthur, to test their skills, and they utterly fail against her. Her tenacious attitude and fighting spirit cannot be matched. She is one of the most lovable characters in the series.
The highlight of this episode is Captain Akitaru Obi. He values and prioritizes the lives of civilians more than putting an infernal to rest. Captain Obi told Shinra and Arthur to keep their weapons concealed in front of the next of kin. They didn’t listen and started questioning him. He made them understand that what they were doing was the same as murder. Putting to rest, prayers were all a ruse to do their jobs. To always give respect to the next of kin who are going through a difficult time and give relief, that is what Fire Soldiers must aspire to do. This message resonates with the audience and it entices them to follow Captain Obi. He is a great leader and there can be no one like him.
An incident occurs at the home when a mysterious person spills some dust inside the house and it destroys the whole complex. The mystery of human combustion and why it occurs is discussed through this very scene. That is the main goal, to find the reason behind this.
Episode 3: The Rookie Fire Soldier Games
The time for the rookie tournament is here. A tournament is one way that authors showcase their main character’s skills. It is a contest where people can get to know the characters and what they have to offer.
In Naruto, no one thought much about Rock Lee, but after his match against Gaara, everyone was on his side. That match was badass. Sorry for shifting focus. Back to fire force!!
Shinra, Arthur, and the other arrives at the tournament. He meets a really ‘tsundere’ girl named Tamaki. She’s pretty cute and Shinra and she crosses paths with each other in unimaginable ways ( Yes!!! its very dirty).
Maki-San introduces them to the mascots for the fire force company. Mamoru Kun, Cat, and Dog. Maki-San is cute as always.
Shinra meets someone from his past. The Fire soldier who rescued from the burning fire when he was a little boy. He was the one who rescued him when he lost his mother and his little brother Sho. He acts very suspiciously around him, and Shinra catches on to something fishy.
The games begin and right from the start, Shinra faces off against a villain. ‘Joker’, the villain who used a special powder has arrived at the scene and is creating chaos. He took down 2 crewmen and threatens to kill them. Shinra attacks him head one and it is a fight not to be missed.
The animation is flawless and the sound effects are marvelous. If you want to take in the glory and beauty of this anime then it is a humble suggestion to watch it while wearing earphones. Its a masterpiece.
The villain offers him the truth about the day that his mother and brother passed away. Shocked by the truth spilling out of Joker he realizes that something is wrong with the system he belongs to. Arthur and Tamaki join the fight and at this instant Joker understands that he has overstayed his welcome. He fills the whole room with the exploding powder.
Shinra and the other rush to save everyone in the building. As epic moments are considered this anime has many of them. It’s not an exaggeration but a fact. It is a complete masterpiece.
Captain Obi tells him about the three pillars of the country. The SOl temple, Haijima Industries, and the fire force academy. There is a mystery behind all these and that is what interests him.
Shinra gets to know the truth about the motives of the fire force company 8 and decides to join forces. This is the turning point of the story.
Episode 4: The Hero And The Princess
This episode marks the end of the introductory arc. We are introduced to Princess Hibana, the captain of the Special Fire force company 5th. She is a strong and bold woman. Stomping her away over a lot of men and she does it quite literally. She is a part of the Haijima Industries research division.
Shinra and Arthur save the mascot, Mamoru Kun, from the top of a tree. He was bullied by college students because of a firefighter gone rogue and killing civilians. The decision regarding his actions was to be taken on that day.
Shinra and Arthur respond to an emergency broadcast by lieutenant Hinawa and rush to the courthouse. The psychopathic killer Miyamoto has turned into an infernal and is terrorizing the civilians. Shinra and Arthur heroically take him down.
The weird thing about the infernal is he was self-aware of who and what he was. This came as a shock to them and the matter of putting him to rest became a predicament. The soul of a fire soldier has to be strong to do these things.
Shinra chases after him and lands in the middle of a street. One of the best fight scenes that have ever happened just unfolds. He throws a car up in the air and takes it down on to the infernal. The infernal gets bashed up bad and surrenders.
As Shinra was about to put the infernal to rest, princess Hibana interferes. She uses some kind of spell to subdue Shinra. Fire Force Company 8 arrives just in the knick of time and saves him.
Betrayal regarding the secrets between human combustion is lurking inside the Fire Force Company 5. One of the recruits from company 5 disses Captain Obi. Shinra and Arthur get enraged and try to attack him. Maki-San in an effort to stop them instead lands a subtle blow on the recruit. It was the most hilarious and satisfying scene.
Company 5 is up to something and it cannot be something good. Company 8th is the protector of the truth and they will try their best to do justice.
Hello Everyone! Time to get serious and optimistic. This pandemic has been a trying time for all of us. We have to rise out of the craters we have to build ourselves and we cannot do that alone. I watched this anime by mistake, but this mistake turned out to be one of the best things in my life. Today lets discuss the magical and wonderous, Fruits Basket.
Fruits basket is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. Its chapters open its doors to viewers on the Semi-monthly Japanese magazine Hana to Yume, published by Hakusensha from 1998 to 2006. The anime adaptation consisted of 26 episodes which aired in 2001.
The story revolves around Honda Tohru, a highschool girl who loses her mother in an accident. Orphaned with no one in this world to call her own, only her Grandfather exists. Her grandfather had to make renovations to his house, not being a burden to him she thinks of moving somewhere alone.
Honda Tohru is a character that you may not see in real life, but a fraction of her is present in all of us. She is pure, positive, and optimistic. Her outlook on life is what drives this series further. She lives in a tent and days pass by, she misses her mother. One fine day her classmate Souma Yuki discovers that she has been living there for some time. He invites her into his home, where his family members live. Shigure and Kyo Souma.
She moves into a room in their house. Shortly after that, she finds out the secret of their family. They are literal animal incarnations of the animal spirits. A hug from the opposite sex triggers the transformation and they turn into animals.
Throughout her school year, she finds out that, the Souma clan is a prestigious family, in which zodiac signs are born into their families. Each individual in this world wears a mask behind their smile. This anime has been influential and it changes everyone’s perspective.
It is a masterpiece which, makes you think for hours about your shortcomings and past experiences. If it went a little bit differently, how would your life change?
Tohru Honda mingles with each one of the zodiacs. She brings a profound effect on their outlooks to life. Shigure, a writer has a separate motive to keeping Tohru in their home. It is a selfish one, but it is something that can save their whole family.
Different types of characters associated with the zodiac bring different personalities. Different relationships have different dynamics. I can’t remember how many times I have cried watching all of these episodes. We feel as if the hardships we face are nothing at all.
The parents of the Zodiacs hate their children. They consider them to be a bad omen or some kind of monster. Outcast and forgotten, they meet Tohru Honda the ever so pure and optimistic being. She treats them as normal humans and that is all anyone needs now. To feel normal and special. To feel acknowledged and accepted for being who you are is a feat of its own. In this time and day when no one cares about you, there is at least one special person who always looks out for you.
The zodiac power is a burden to its owners. To create relationships with the opposite sex is a big task that many cannot achieve. Akito, the leader of the clan has a strong grip on the members of the clan. She is selfish and wants to confine all the zodiacs to one place.
Confining a bird in a cage hinders its ability to fly free. It is the same for humans as well. The parallel between the confinement of society on humans and the control of their God towards the Zodiac signs is a factor in this story. Each zodiac sign has a story tell. Each wishes to escape their cage and be free. To escape from the shackles of the curse is Shigure’s goal and he feels that Tohru can be the key to doing that.
There are some beautiful messages in the anime that makes you look at the world differently. Tohru associates people with being consisting of rice balls. Each rice balls contains different kinds of filing and those fillings are appeal to some people. In that way everybody is special. Writing this is one thing but watching it is truly something else.
In the scene where Yuki and Kyo go for the gathering while leaving Tohru back home alone at New Years, her friends approach them. She tells them that for every New Year she has been with her mother except for this one. Yuki and Kyo rush towards her side, which is such a touching and powerful scene. The emotionally distant siblings, feel so much for someone because they can relate to not receiving a parent’s love. To be with someone in trying time is what friendship is all about. It forms the crux of life.
The music and the visuals of this anime are breathtaking. It conveys to us the feels and the twists and turns involved in fruits basket. The will to live on and to be kind amidst losing everything you hold dear is something amazing. Many people are not able to do this but those who do become the kindest people. They have known life till the brink of destruction of one’s self. Tohru Honda’s influence on every character wraps around everyone like a twine, just supporting each other and going.
The message conveyed to the viewers consists of many life experiences. Everyone has only one life and to good in that lifetime is the main protagonist’s goal. Help others and in some or the other way, when you hit rock bottom, they help you.
Fruits basket, is a spectacle of positivity and new perspectives. Do not miss this wonderful anime. Please give it a watch because it made a lot of changes in me and I’m sure it will create some in you as well. The world is a wonderful place when you have someone special with you. That special person exists in each and everyone lives and they can reduce the pain a little bit. I know I have one, you may have one as well.
Hey guys! I’m back with a new post. Today I would like to review an anime that I recently watched and wish I had watched a long time ago. Run with the Wind/ Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru is the pinnacle of emotions. Let’s dive in.
This series is written by Shion Miura and the Anime adaptation done by Production I.G. It iterates the story of Haiji Kiyose, a final year literature student studying at Kansei University who wishes to run the Hakone Ekiden, a prestigious marathon. 10 teams consisting of 10 members each qualify for the marathon out of 50 teams.
Premise of the show:
In the first episode, we can see, Haiji on a bike chasing Kurehara Kakeru who is running in perfect form and that amazes Haiji and plans to recruit him. He finally attains the 10th man and hence forms his team. The main cast contains 10 players. You might think at first that that might be a problem but every character is given importance. Every character’s backstory is given importance. How each action affects them and how they overcome it through running is the central prospect of this show. Finding your true self through running, this is the main premise of the show.
The final 10 players are: Kurehara Kakeru, Haiji Kiyose, Shindo, Prince, Jot, and Joji the twins, Yuki, Musa an exchange student from Tanzania, King, Nico- Senpai. I have mentioned the nicknames of most of the players because it’s much more relatable that way. Every character in this series has a different personality and different views on how to go by their lives. The story begins when Haiji Kiyose announces to all the members living in the dorm, that they are a part of the track team. Everyone’s face is bewildered by this news. Everyone is hesitant about running in the beginning. Once they started running they start to realize about themselves, lets go of all the worries, Certain answers to questions such as what purpose is there to running or why is everyone so passionate about it come towards them through running.
The sweetest part about why this series touched me was because of its male camaraderie. Of course, this is seen in most anime but in this one, it is shown in depth. There is ample action in this anime but what it has more is the true heart. The way the writer has conveyed each teammate’s feelings and understanding towards each other will make you feel good inside. The character development goes to show you how good this show really is. The music composed by Yuki Hayashi has an amazing impact on the scenes. It is very apt for the series and brings out the emotion fro the characters as well as us.
The meaning of true friendship, reasons to fight for them, passions attached to live for them, what it means to support and uplift each other are all concepts that are mentioned well in this anime. More than the sports elements, the characters bring you joy and will want to make you run. This anime is one that really touched my heart and I will definitely suggest each one of you to watch it. You won’t be disappointed at all.
How was my review? If you found it good, please like, share, and comment. I would like to know your views on this. Thank you. see you next time.
