God Of Highschool Episode 13: Seiten Taisei -The Monkey King

Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to an exciting post of the anime reviews.

God of Highschool, the anime that has been creating a buzz aired its final episode of the first season. Everyone is going crazy, especially me. šŸ˜€

In my posts, I had addressed concerns regarding the storytelling and the narrative that the anime had adopted. Well, this episode sums it all up and leaves us with a lot of things to expect in the future.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Jeagal Teak consumes ‘ The Key’ and becomes a God, an angel of death. It spells doom for Jin Mori and everyone involved. Jegeal Teak doesn’t waste any time. He wants to lay waste to the land.

On the front line are Jin Mori, Han Daewi, and Yu Mira. Everyone at their limits is assaulted and taken down one by one. Jin Mori frightened at the sight of Jegala Teak can’t seem to move.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

When Han Daewi jumps in front of Mori and Mira to sacrifice his life, something in him snaps. Remember in the match between Illpyo and Mori, when he unlocked a latent power?
It comes to fruition once again but this time, he can use the full extent of it. Jin Mori unlocks the power and this person he has turned into is a different entity. He turns into Seiten Taisei. He is revered to be God himself and referred to as the monkey king.

The Monkey King has existed throughout history with different names, in many cultures. In Chinese Mandarin, he is known as Sun Wukong. In Japanese folklore he is referred to as Son Goku and predating all this is the Monkey God knows as Hanuman from the Indian scripture of Ramayana. His staff the Nyoibo is also something from the Chinese texts. It was given to the Monkey king by the Dragon Queen. It was a pillar that had no use but glowed in the hands of the Monkey King. It resonated with him and became his greatest power. This anime has been keeping these facts hidden behind all the fighting and it is quite interesting that they revealed it all in the final episode.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

An epic fight commences between Seiten Taisei and Jeagal Teak. The fight is by far one of the best-animated fights in the series. He takes down Jeagel Teak’s hideous creatures using his Nyoibo. Jin Mori makes Jeageal Teak pay for every indecent deed he has done. The satisfaction after watching him beat him to a pulp is overwhelming. He got what was coming to him. The journey for the attainment of power is one that will bring ruin. He found out the hard way.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Mujin Park and the others looking from a distance witness the spectacle created by Jin Mori. Chakreyok is a power that is borrowed from the Gods but as Park Mujin describes it, Jin Mori is indeed a God himself. He is the one who can revel against ‘ The possessor of the Key.’ He summons lightning from the skies to destroy Jegal Teak and subdues him.

Mori collapses into the loving hands of his friends. They suspect that Mori has been possessed by someone else but that is not the case. Mori’s crown reacts to Jegal Teak’s tenacious intent. Jegeal Teak wants more power and he transforms into a grotesque creature who wants to devour everyone.

Mira and Han struggle to keep Mori out of harms way. I appreciate that the author gives everyone a chance to prove themselves and that is one of the reasons this anime is so good. It is not the main character-driven plot. Many subplots intertwine to form a complete story.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Park Illpyo arrives and tells Mori that he should not do things alone. He should rely on friends more. The four of them engage in an epic fight scene, launch an onslaught of attacks, and destroys Jegeal Teak. Mori launches his final attack but struggles to finish him. The grandson of ‘ The Magician’ turns things around for them by petrifying Jegeal Teak and he is finally destroyed.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

When the fight is over a member of the SIX appears from her slumber. Kim Ungneyo, the progenitor of life as we know it. Another God appears after all the fights are over. The agreement that Mujin Park had laid down with all the competitors of God of highschool was that the winner would receive whatever they wished for. She is the grantor of that wish.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Jin Mori rushes to the opportunity to make a wish without consulting anyone. His deepest desire comes out flowing through tears, to see his grandfather once again. His grandfather is the only one he has and his longing can be felt within each viewer. With the permission of his teammates, he asks to heal everyone hurt during the battle. Illpyo’s cousins were all healed from their disabilities and back to good shape.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Jin Mori, even though is a knucklehead cares for the people around him. This scene itself is proof of that. A touching reunion between siblings occurs and hence the curtain falls on God of Highschool.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Three months have passed, The Magician Jeon Jeasen has passed away and Na Bongchim, Mori’s sensei treats him as a Big Brother and pays respects at his grave. Seo Hallyang also arrives at the scene and hilariously asks if Na Bongchim had sorted out relationship stuff with Ungneyo. That was a spoiler we didn’t need but deserved. šŸ˜€

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Mujin Park aims at taking the presidential election to seize control of the Country but NOX is one step ahead. The Traitor amidst Mujin Park’s organization is also revealed and it was an interesting development.

Jin Mori wakes up from his 3-month long slumber and has no memory whatsoever of what went down. He finds that Ilpyo has been traveling around the world to collect the fragments of the Key.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Finally, the secret of the Key has been revealed. Ugneyou explains it as a power to revel against the Gods. With its power, a human can drag God from the holy realm and kill him.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

Han Daewi tells Mori that to unlock his memories, he will have to go to the homeland of Seiten Taisei and the atmosphere looks fun. A temple on top of a cliff. OOOOhhhh Fun!!!!!!. šŸ˜€

Jin Taejin is shown in shackles at the NOX hideout and he talks about Jin Mori being able to defeat the Gods, Fate, and himself. It is suspicious that he would count himself in this unless he is pretty sure that something is going to happen to him. Something sure to change his psyche and make him evil.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool Episode 13

God of Highschool has left us a lot to think about before Season 2. The spoilers are endless and it increases the hype. The story ends on a high note, setting up a lot of subplots and intrigue. The world-building still has some gaps but I’m sure that they can bring more clarity in season 2.

Until Next time. See ya!

God Of Highschool Episode 12 : The End Of The World As We Know It

God of Highschool went from the story of a fighting tournament to something crazy. God of Highschool Episode 12 dives into an all-out war. Ilipyo unlocking the Key has provoked NOX to move in to take hold of that power. They aren’t the only ones who want it.

To be honest, the power scaling system and the organizations were all confusing to me. This episode clears up some loose ends and transports us into all the action.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

The skies turn red and beings plummet from the sky to bring their plan to fruition. NOX summons their trump card, ‘GOD’ himself. A diety like figure descends from the heavens. The whole situation does not look good.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

Park Mujin trie to stop the descending doom from approaching earth and destroying it. We get to know that if ‘The Key’ and God come to meet, then it spells doom for the whole world. From almost the second episode of the show, the mystery regarding the Key has been finally solved.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12
Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

Villians also had good intentions inside them once. The situations they get involved in and their admirations are what make them take a different path. Jeagal Teak abandoned by his mother and sold to a rich old man was raised and instilled with goals so that he can be a ‘ winner’. This episode is about winners and losers. His Adoptive parent tells him that those who abandon people and take the easy way out are considered, losers. Those who envision victory from the beginning and achieve it with full confidence are known as winners. These teachings have made a drastic change in his personality which turns him into such a man. The tides are turning in God of Highschool and we have to wonder, who will gain the upper hand?

Illpyo and Jegeal face off against each other in a vicious battle. Illpyo enraged at the fact that Jegeal has taken everything good in his life and he isn’t going to let him win just yet. The animation is flawless. Fists meeting each other in a fiery embrace, power-ups that are so flashy which makes you want to watch the fight with no interruption.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12
Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12
Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

This anime has made every episode worthwhile. Each episode lives up to the hype and this one is no different. The members of SIX are flying around taking out parademon looking creatures, Park Mujin tries to stop the incoming deity from attack Seoul. Illpyo loses the ‘ Key’ and it is extracted into an actual key. A crazy frenzy of fights begins to get hold of the key and this is just the start of all the debacles.

In a way, it has the elements from the 2014 ‘Justice League War’ and Avengers 1. Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you. The USA launches nuclear missiles to destroy the creature from beyond our realm. This episode was on the same magnitude as some of the scenes from these movies and I find it fun to see that.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12
Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12
Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

All the members of the God Of Highschool tournament are transported to a garden until the issue is solved. Jin Mori keeps the key safe for Illpyo. Han Daewi’s chakreyok nature is revealed and Jegal Taek goes on a rampage again.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

For the first time since I’ve been writing, I can’t explain what this episode is. It is a continuous rollercoaster of an action scene and it engages us while putting us on the edge of our seats. The most spectacular performance of power shown in this episode was ‘ The Magician’. Jeon Jaesan performs alchemy to teleport each citizen far away from the attack site. He single-handedly destroys God and disintegrates all the missiles that were launched.

Photo Courtesy : God Of Highschool EpisodeĀ 12

The SIX is not an organization to be underestimated. I even wonder it won’t be easy to defeat Jin Taejin either if their members have powers of this magnitude. He might as well be alive and well. The whole diety is transported to that jungle, the place where the others were sent to. Jegeal Teak goes on a rampage and takes out Han and Mira. He is a powerful villain and does not stop at getting what he wants. His perseverance is unmatched and not even Jin Mori can match this. Jeagel Taek gets ahold of the Key and he transforms into something much unbelievable. He might as well be the ‘ Angel of death’.

This shows lacks a little bit of narrative but makes up for with the well-choreographed fight sequences. Moving from frame to frame the detail given to the fights is tremendous and the animation is flawless. I’m intrigued to see how this series is going to wrap up in the final episode.

Until next time. See ya!

God Of Highschool Episode 11 : Jin Mori’s True Power Revealed!

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.

God of Highschool has been hyping everyone up with its amazing fight scenes and wonderful characters. The last episode left us with one of the best fight scenes in the series to date. A war is brewing and we cant wait to see what happens next. Let’s dive in.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

God of Highschool episode 11 continues the epic fight between Jin Mori and Park Illpyo. Illpyo has unlocked a power that surpasses that of God of himself. He is the one considered as the Key by every organization. He is the ‘one’ that everyone had desperately been waiting for.

The nine tail fox spirit was the guardian of God in ancient times. As his power grew, God began to despise its existence. He feared that it might rebel against him. The fox spirit decimated half of heaven and was banished to the world of humans. It went into a slumber for over 1000 years waiting for its turn to return.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

The Key was a central aspect of the story and I’m glad the anime offered a prologue before continuing the fight. In certain instances, the anime does justice to its characters and backstories. SIX is one of the main organizations in the anime and we hardly know anything about them. The anime isn’t perfect but it strives to deliver what the fans want.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Jin Mori outmatched against this power, treads carefully before facing him. There is something unique about his Chakreyok and is cautious of this fact. All the Chakreyok users feel a tingling sensation and resonate along with Illpyo’s power.

To be honest, the power of Chakreyok is very complicated. The anime fails to mention this fact and the narrative of the story faces a great loss due to this. The fights are one of the best in anime history but the essence of anime is not mainly that. There should be a backstory, an interesting storyline which makes sense and that is what makes fights even more interesting to watch.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Pushes to the edge Jin Mori unlocks an abnormal power. We don’t know what that power is actually. Is it some kind of Chakreyok or is it the power of the sage fruit?

The sage fruit is also something that has not been mentioned until now and I like that to exist as a mystery for a long time. He conjures up a storm and bashes Ilpyo with a big hand, presumably a monkey’s hand.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Everyone’s shocked that the powerful ‘Key’ was defeated by Jin Mori’s latent abilities. This begs to question why is the power scaling out of proportion?

The anime does justice to the fights in the anime but lacks to do the same for the storyline.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Park Illpyo arrives at the hospital along with his teammates. Jin Mori comes to visit him and tells him all about Jin Taeijin’s suspected kidnapping. The relationship between them started since they were little kids. It was especially a heartwarming scene when Illpyo tells Mori to call him big brother. The comradery between these two is something to look forward to. Jin Mori might be a cutting edge fighter but he is still so adorable.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

The grandson of one of the SIX members, Juon Jugok arises from his injury. He resonated with the power of the nine tail fox and turned into a monster. He consumes others and uses that energy to attack. Jaegal Taek encounters him and he is as brutal as ever. No mercy, no forgiveness he continues to go on a killing spree. Destroying everyone in his path.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

The monster eventually evades his attacks and reaches Illpyo’s room. He faces off with Ilpyo and his teammates. I’m sorry to quote a game character, but this monster resembles parasite. He used to consume other people by killing them and gained strength. Illpyo and his team along with Jaegal Teak subdue them but with a hefty cost.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Jaegal Teak uses his Chakreyok and beheads the monster and along with that releases Illpyo’s captured teammates. Illpyo and his teammates soon realize that they have lost so much more. This brings back bad memories of an old ordeal between Jegal teak and Illpyo’s cousin 4 years back.
He erupts with pain as do we to be honest. Jeagal Teak gets kicked out of the building.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

Nox moves on to summon their ‘God’ like being and head towards the Key. Mujin Park makes an announcement that will shake everyone to the core.

“As of this moment, the God Of Highschool is over”

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 11

An epic scene in the ends sets the scene up for a war. Two more episodes to go. Let’s see if God of Highschool wraps all its plot holes and delivers us with a fantastic anime. No doubt it is a fantastic anime but story wise it can do far better.

Until next time. See ya!

God Of Highschool Episode 10 : The Key Is Awakened!

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.

God of Highschool has definitely been a game-changer in the anime industry and it continues to amaze us with its feats of glory.

The anime is more than just fighting. It carries on its shoulders emotions and the path to fulfilling your dreams. Every person entering this competition has a dream they want to be fulfilled.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

Park Mujin has a little talk with Mori, Mira, and Daewi. He reveals that the opponents they faced had stolen identities to fulfill a greater task. Mori desperately wants to save his grandfather, kidnapped by Nox for reasons unknown.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

A glimpse of a meaningful backstory to One of my favorite characters is also shown in this episode. Park Illpyo and his cousin entered a martial arts competition 4 years ago. His cousin, Seungou faced off against Taegal Jaek and he is such a brutal character breaks her leg, incapacitating her for a lifetime. He rips her dreams of becoming a martial artist right out of her hand. The reason behind the participation of Park Illpyo in the tournament is to save her from this unfair fate.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

The match between Seoul and Chungcheongnam-doĀ begins. It’s Han Daewi v Park Seungah. She is a hardcore martial artist, goes for the vital parts. She throws him off balance and is in a predicament. The up and down game of perseverance is a sight for sour eyes.

The thing about Han Daewi and Park Illpyo is that they want to help their loved ones no matter what. After the realization that Han Daewi can fight for himself even after the death of his friend shows his perseverance to certain situations. His burdens decreased a little bit and he was able to fight with all he had. Park Illpyo learned the same lesson as well through his cousin’s match. The main message the anime wants to showcase is to focus on yourself and all your goals may be fulfilled. Even if you are doing it for someone else.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

The animation is insane in this show. The hand to hand combat is crisp, I especially like the immersive scenes where we get the fighter’s perspective. The first round goes to Han Daewi.

Jin Mori v Park Illpyo is the main event. Mori overpowered by his opponent begins to doubt his capabilities and if he is weak to save his grandfather.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

At first glance, Jin Mori portrayed as a rather overpowered character, has his flaws exposed one by one. Dialed down and shown as a mortal being. On the verge of hopelessness, he finally starts thinking about how he can defeat his opponent. He uses a combination of Mira’s and Han’s attacks. He corrects his mistakes one by one and proceeds to give the viewers one of the best fights to date.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

Park Illpyo is defeated and finally acknowledges Jin Mori to be a great fighter like his grandfather Jin Taejin.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

While this was going on a lot of villains from the Nox have been plotting to bring out the true form of the fighters in their quest to find ‘The Key’. A lot of mystic powers play hand in hand and the leader of Nox summons God himself. Park Mujin, the commissioners, and a member of the Six in a spectacular array of combo attacks stop Nox in their tracks. Armageddon was avoided due to the intervention of these forces.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 10

The animation along with the music in these scenes was incredible. The immersive experience this anime gives its viewers is a true testament to changing times. Mappa Studios has worked out a miracle of an anime through this and with 3 more episodes to go, it is going to be a crazy ride ahead.

Park Illpyo while he falls to the ground, a new power awakens inside him. A fox approaches him and grants him mystical powers.

“The Key is awakened!”

Until next time. See ya!

God Of Highschool Episode 8 & 9 – A New Tiger Cub Is Born

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.
Today we will be discussing God of Highschool episodes 8 and 9.
Let’s dive in

God of Highschool is a Webtoon Korean Manhwa written and illustrated by Yongje Park and the anime produced by Crunchyroll and Mappa studios.

It revolves around Jin Mori and the GOH tournament in which people from different backgrounds, fighting styles come together to take part. Beneath all that, there is something more in the midst of all this.

To be honest, after watching 9 episodes of God Of Highschool I have noticed a few issues about the anime. I will discuss that further in the post but a quick recap to the event that transpired in episode 8

The magician, a member of the SIX watches from a distance as his grandson undergoes surgery. Park Mujin has to answer his questions on why Jegal Taek is not disqualified.

The mysterious key everyone talks about comes up again. The key is somewhat like ‘the chosen one’ sort of thing and it’s quite clear as to what it is.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

Another match wages on between Chungcheongnam-do V Jeollanam – Do. Jeollanam-Do wins the first round rather easily but the next two rounds Chungcheongnam – do teams for the taking. The Park cousins splendidly win their matches with ease.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

The highlight of this episode is Park Illpyo. He uses an old martial arts form called Tekkyon, forgotten for some time. Jin Mori realizes that he might have some connection with Jin Taeijin his grandfather.

Called forth by Park Mujin, Jin Mori learns about the possibility that his grandfather might be in danger. This has been running on his mind for some time. He feels that if he was a bit stronger he might be able to go help his grandfather.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

Just as he was thinking about all these things Park Illpyo comes to visit him. He instantly picks a fight with Jin Mori as soon as they meet. To be honest this was a fun scene to watch. Their fighting styles coincided in such a way that each of them had a chance at getting the other in a real fight.

Jin Mori asks about the tiger mark on his back and he confirms Mori’s suspicions that he might know Jin Taijin.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

The viewers are shown a glimpse of Illpyo’s past and how he became the person he is. Jin Taeijin gave him purpose when no one could. All left alone he was the one who gave him the textbook to learn all the techniques of Tekkyon, an art form that his grandfather Park Ittae had trained in.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

In a really heartwarming interaction, we find a really relatable sleepy head Jin Mori carried around by his grandfather. The anime depicts relationships in short scenes but all the while creates a sense of relatability. Even if it is a little bit fast paced the characters are fleshed out nicely.

For a boy who had very few good memories in his life, the words that Jin Taejin said to him were precious to him. This is the story of how he met Jin Taeijin.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

At that instant, Jeagal Teak attacks them out of the blue. Jin Mori’s escaped without a scratch due to Park Illpyo’s intervention. The writer does a fine job of depicting insecurities faced by Mori in subtle ways. The subtle thing swish past the audience and the idea gets implanted in their heads.

Q, one of the commissioners of GOH goes rogue and tries to attack Park Mujin. Allegations were thrown upon him on why he let Sim Bongsa’s family die. Mujin reciprocates by repelling Q to the wall and subduing him. Q realizes later that Mujin Park had actually saved his wife and daughter from Nox and had relocated them to another secret location.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

Mujin Park is in the neutral I guess. The author finely places him between the 2 extremes. We don’t know who or what he is and what fuels him to go on. Intrigue is a very enticing drug.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

Concerning events leading to the death of Sim Bogsa and the attack on Q, GOH tournament members know that there is a traitor in their midst and they want to find out who it is soon.

Han Daewi approaches Q and asks him to train him. He wants to attain Chakreyok and get stronger to help his team.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 8

Han and Mira get alerts on their phone saying it’s Mori’s bday. They rush to his apartment with food in hand. He cherishes the words that his grandfather said and understands the meaning of it all. This show is not all about fighting but the relationships and lessons they learn at each moment in life.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

Things get much dicier in episode 9. Jin Mori receives directions and a photo of his grandfather without a hand. He ditches the match and rushes off to save him.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

In the area, Yu Mira goes against a mysterious team. The Seoul team is at a disadvantage due to the suspension of Han Daewi and the unknown whereabouts of Jin Mori. Mira goes mano-e-mano with the muscular man.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

In a few minutes, she realizes he is not someone normal. She realizes that her moonlight sword is being yielded by the man right in front of her. Her power is being used against her, to undermine her and to destroy her. She strives to buy some time so that Jin Mori can return to the stage.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

As Han Daewi searches the complex for Jin Mori, he stumbles upon his former opponent incapacitated. Much to Han’s surprise this girl attacks her and after seeing his masculine aura falls kisses him. Everything is fast-paced in this anime.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

Jin Mori reaches a warehouse, presumably the location where his grandfather’s confined. He stumbles upon the place a fight his grandpa’s hand missing and in shackles. While he tries to remove the shackles the flesh mutates and ends up exploding.

Nox, the evil cult/organization has planned all this so that their team can win GOH. Mori finds dead bodies of different teams in the warehouse and realizes that they have been ‘cutting down the competition.’
Their goal is unknown but they will not stop until they win.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

The people facing Yu Mira as well as Jin Mori are imposters dresses as contestants. This tournament is brutal. People and villains infiltrate this shindig and the commissioners aren’t doing anything. Its an all-out brawl and the only motive is to find the key that will accomplish an unforeseen goal.

Yu Mira hurt, she hits a near-death state, she attains Chakreyok. She magnificently dodges her opponent’s attack and attains ownership of her sword back.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

She slices and dices her opponent and incapacitates him.

As she falls, Jin Mori approaches and holds her head before she hit the ground.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 9

Jin Mori looked angry. Like more than normal. In a very innovative way, the series shows how Mori took down the agent and how he takes down his current opponent simultaneously.

He uses a new move and takes them down instantly. The epicness of a strong main character being born is second to none

God Of Highschool episode 9

The Six realize that a new Tiger Cub is born and he is a force to reckon with.

The series is going at a good pace and the animation and storytelling are wonderful. But it’s a weird feeling when people use Chakreyok. I feel that this power scaling did not get a proper introduction. I understand that they will reveal the secrets behind the Chakreyok but still its a bit confusing.

I do appreciate the way that the fights are framed. Hand to hand combat along with Chakreyok. They don’t take away the essence that the anime provides.

4 more episodes left. The hype is real. Drop your opinions down in the comments. Until next time. See ya!

God Of Highschool Episode 7 : Anima/Force – The Nationals Begin

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to another fun-filled anime review.
God Of Highschool Episode 7 is out and it is something that we did not expect to be.
Let’s dive in.

At first glance, God of Highschool seemed like an anime which was an all-out hand to hand fighting tournament. I thought it was something like Naruto or Dragon Ball Z but it is so much more than that. God of Highschool revolves around Jin Mori who takes part in the tournament. He goes against many foes in hopes of becoming the top fighter.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

Q, one of the commissioners were presumably deceased. To everyone’s surprise, he is alive and well. Nox, the evil cult had attacked him and killed the announcer. Q seems cool as a cucumber but enraged. He engages in combat with this assassin. His chakreyok character the joker slits off his opponent’s hands. The fight scene is amazing and Q is brutal. As he goes for the kill, thwarting his attempt were two assassins from the NOX.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

They were priestly members of the NOX group. The two members assault Q, but he isn’t ready to back down. He goes on the offensive and tries to take them out. O appears to help Q out. They both fight against these Chakreyok users. It is a weird concept because there is so much more to find out about Chakreyok. The fight scene is splendid but it was a bit confusing because of the elements used.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

This series went from all hand to hand fighting to something much more out of this world. Unlike other anime, GOH does the job of implementing the supernatural power with hand to hand combat and its appreciated. If that was not the case there would be nothing different between this and the other anime.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

Simultaneously, the tournament’s first 3 man Match was ongoing. Each member of the team will face the other. There would be 3 rounds and the one who will 2 of 3 will pass to the next round. The first match was Cheoungbouk-do V Seoul. Jin Mori and his teammates are hesitant about the fact that people may use Chakreyok so they are extra vigilant.

Jin Mori faces off with Nah Gidong. In a funny turn of events, Jin Mori petrifies his body using that wrong pressure point technique and losses the match. It was a new technique that he had learned but he wasn’t able to execute it.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

TO be honest, Mori is my favorite character, and not seeing him not fight did not psyche me up for this episode. Even so, Han and Mira take that pain away. šŸ˜€

Han Daewi faces off against Jim Pun Kwang. He is a 38-year-old Highschool student and the oldest in the tournament. A glimpse into his backstory forms an initial idea about how he is as a person. He gave up on life when he was a high schooler and wanted to take command of his life. So he is pursuing his education and wants to win this tournament so that he can help students like him more.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7
Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

There are those moments in anime when the team the main character is against is much more impressive. In this case, the team that was against Seoul was much more relatable and worth rooting for. They were true underdogs who wanted to make a difference in the world.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

Han Daewi’s friend always wanted to be what he wished to be. Han wanted to become the greatest fighter and that is a dream that is worth fighting for. Jim Pun Kwang uses chakreyok and overpowers Han, but badly bruised, he came back fighting. He wanted to win for his friends and take them to the next level. A clash between similar dreams wages on and in the end Han Daewi wins spectacularly.

The next match takes place between Jang Jangmi and Yuu Mira. In Jang Jangmi’s backstory, Jim Pun had helped her in a pinch. She wanted to be the best in whatever she does but the reality is quite shocking. She loses again and again to a certain opponent and it inadvertently turns into rage. She wanted to quit what she was doing. The path seemed dark but Jim pulled her out. Their relationship blooms in this way and it is quite heartwarming to watch.

Yuu Mira gets the best of her and breaks her sword. Jang does not give up. She creates a sword using Chakreyok and fends off Mira’s advances. Mira has a dream and she has been training hard to achieve it. She uses a technique and with one kick she destroys her Chakreyok and takes her down.

The Seoul team is triumphant but there is a lesson that the other team conveys. It is to never give up, stand strong, and try again. Also, I can’t stress this part enough. The scene in which Yu Mira squishes Mori’s cheeks as if he were her brother, was too Kawaaai!!!.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

The next match was too brutal to watch. Jaegal Teik, quite a dangerous man demolishes his opponents. His chakreyok is a shark and it devours its opponents like a real carnivore. He decimated everyone on that team and was merciless. I won’t provide spoilers but the whole set up of GOH is about to change. It is going to get more and more brutal from here on out.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episodeĀ 7

After the events of the attack on Q, Park Mujin suspects that there is a mole in the organization. He also gets a report that Jin Taejin, Mori’s grandfather could be abducted. A severed hand found in the forest confirms that it was Jin Taejin’s. The anime is expanding at a tremendous pace and the viewers must be vigilant to grab every ounce of it. More exciting matches and events are on its way and we can expect it to be amazing. There is a lot of stuff to clear up about the Chakreyok but I believe that they will clear it up very soon.

Hope you liked the review.
Until next time. See ya!

God of Highschool has been a rollercoaster ride of fights, emotions, and all-out excitement. The preliminary rounds are over and its time for the next section. A wide array of characters included, but still, the main highlight is Jin Mori, Yuu Mira, and Han Daewi. The ‘new monster trio’ if you may have been wrapping tight strings around our hearts pumping adrenaline as well as tugging to bring out emotions.

Jin Taejin, Mori’s grandfather appears and like all anime dads, he is incredible. The quote we had been hearing for so long has been uttered from himself. ” There is this one thing I tell my grandson. Do whatever you want.” he says. He is strong, tenacious and someone who does not mess around. Nox, the evil cult featured in the previous episodes, has surfaced and asked Jin Taejin to join their ranks. He declines and puts a dent in their army.

Park Mujin explains the source of power that our trio has faced off against in the past. Seongjin and Q the commissioner were users of Chakreyok, harnessing the powers of ancient animal gods and controls them to fight. The announcer visits Mira and he tells her to not lose hope, train harder with the moonlight technique, and perfect it. Mori meets with an old man who wants to train him in the fighting.

‘ The Six’ a group of martial art experts are on their way for a meeting called forth by Park Mujin. They are members who excel in their form of fighting. The landscape of the world is shifting and this meeting’s necessary. Park Mujin tells his former master about JIn Mori consuming a ‘Sage fruit’, which contains some kind of power.

New characters introduced, many have faced certain mishaps which shocks the fiber of the GOH commissioners and it finally lays the foundation for its extended universe. In 6 episodes that GOH has become a spectacle and the pacing is incredible. It might not be going in the ways of the Manhwa but still, piece by piece the puzzle is being formed and it will culminate into something epic. The national tournament begins!!!

God Of Highschool Episode 5 : Ronde/ Hound – A Review

Hey everyone!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.
Today we will be discussing God of Highschool episode 5

God of Highschool has proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Every episode is a marvel to watch. The creator Yongje Park and Mappa studios may have created a spectacle that is engaging as well as emotional.

In the last episode we were left shocked and trembling after Han Daewi and Yoo Mira clashed fists. She was overpowered and taken down brutally by Han Daewi.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

Han Daewi has been a very complicated character from the beginning and none of his tournament friends know about his past. The reason he is fighting in the tournament is to save his friend who is hospitalized with an incurable disease.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

Woo Seungtae and Han Daewi were friends who fought against the world but with the world turned against, it calls for some drastic measures. The past is showcased a bit in this episode and how their friendship bloomed.
The past is seriously a defining element for character development.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

Jin Mori meets Yoo Mira in the hospital after her brutal fight. She is a considerate friend and understands that something must be going on with him as he is acting this way. When Yoo Mira was about to marry Seongjin, Mori and Han came to her rescue. Without asking for help they exactly knew what she was going through and reached by her side to help her. She understands and wants to do the same for him.

The anime’s pacing is really good. Character development plays a great part in this and they have got that correct. Mujin Park offers an ultimatum for Han Daewi’s request. He makes a deal with him and the conditions say that he has to win the semi-finals as well as the finals to truly help his friend. We understand the reason why he was acting out like that against his friend.

The fight between Jin Mori and Han Daewi was something from fairytales. It blew my expectations right out of the water. Mori understands that he is in a lot of pain and purposely holds back so that he might be able to take out a little bit of his frustration on him. Daewi goes all out and pummels on Mori. Neither of them is backing down.

Mujin Park comes to the side of the ring to deliver bitter news. Han Daewi’s friend has passed away and this puts a toll on him. Jin Mori goes all out on Han but he has no fight left in him. As Jin Mori is about to put out the finishing blow on Han, Mira comes with a loudspeaker in hand. She tells Han to keep fighting on and not to give up. She gives him a letter from his friend who passed away.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

In it contained encouraging words that fuelled the flame in him to fight more. Jin Mori understands and acts accordingly.

The fight from this point is so innovative and so exciting that no one would be able to sit on their seat. It takes you to the edge, raises your heartbeat, and pumps the adrenaline in you. They both go all out in the end but the victor is none other than Jin Mori.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

The most touching scene in this episode was when Mori picked him up on his shoulder and Mira got his other side. Some friendships are infinite. Misunderstanding cannot break them.

An aloof Han Daewi has finally taken his friend’s advice and puts trust in people. Trust in people is reciprocated back and forms a great bond.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 5

Many people mistook this for an all-out brawling tournament, but it’s much more than that. Each fight, each move represents an extension of one’s emotion. The beautiful comradery between the characters is what makes this anime worthwhile. Episode 5 has set the standards high for the upcoming episodes. Looking forward to more of this.

God of Highschool Episode 4 : Wedding / Bond – A Review

Hey everyone!

Welcome to your daily servings of anime reviews.
Today we will be discussing God Of Highschool episode 4.
Let’s dive in.

Introduction:

God of Highschool is a Korean Manhwa written and illustrated by Yonjge Park and produced by Mappa Studios. It revolves around JIn Mori and his companions who take part in an all style fighting event to be the number one in Korea.

Synopsis and Review:

The past few episodes have been filled with fighting scenes that leave us speechless. Of course, some parts were there that was heartwarming but we had not gone in too deep into one of our main characters Psychi.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

The episode titled Wedding / Bond revolves around Mira Yoo. Mira, Jin, and Han are seen walking down the footpath going to their homes as usual after the tournament. We get to know that the next round is the semifinal and one of the matches is going to be Han v Mira. Right at that moment a stranger approaches them and asks for Mira’s hand in marriage.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

We are shown the inside of Mira’s home where she is seen picking out a wedding gown from brochure along with her little sister.

Mira was proposed by the owner of a wealthy sports company and one of the best martial artists in the world Seongjin. He approaches her because he is fascinated by her abilities and her lineage towards the moonlight sword. He promises to her that if she marries, he will bring back the moon sword style and make it the greatest in the world. He also tells her that he is the only one who can do it in a rather sinister fashion.

When Mira was a little girl when she lost her father and his brother took responsibility for her. She is the only living heir to the moon sword style. In an attempt to take on his late brother’s tradition, he becomes a teacher to train people in the art of the moon sword style. He fails and that leaves a disturbing image in Mira’s mind.

In the present, Mira’s guardian meets the guy she is going to marry. He asks as of what intentions he has in marrying her. She is a child. He says that he had seen potential in her and he tauntingly tells him that he wants to revive his families tradition. Bad vibes come out of him.

Jin Mori is seen confused about what burger he should order. He gets to know from some bystanders that Mira is getting married to Seongjin. Mori goes to Mira’s house to confront her on why she is getting married. After each passing episode, you start falling in love with Jin Mori and start relating to him. He is strong as well as a good friend who only wants to do good things. He’s like a new Goku. šŸ˜€

Mira getting into this marriage for an ulterior motive other than love depicts an immoral aspect of our society. Some people are forced into marriage as an ultimatum towards a larger goal and it defeats the purpose of marriage. We can relate to Mira because she is a strong woman who wishes to do anything for her father’s tradition coming to fruition.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

Jin Mori talks with his friend Han. He explains to him that everyone has their perspective of things and we cannot change it. So it is better to not get involved in this.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

Mira wears a wedding dress and is ready for betrothal. Her uncle recollects certain memories from the past. We see that Mira has sacrificed a lot of things so that she can attain her goals. Her uncle has seen her through some trying times still putting up a strong face.

Her uncle goes to the groom and tells him to call off the wedding. He explains to him that she is not mature to make decisions yet. She tells her uncle its alright and she is happy. Her hunger for the attainment of her dream has set her on a wrong path and her sister, Suma regrets that she couldn’t do anything to sway her off her disastrous path.

Jin Mori and Suma try to enter the stage but they are blocked by Seongjin’s bodyguards. he tries to get through them but he is threatened by them.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

We get to know that this is all a ruse set up by Seongjin. He is a part of the evil organization that was introduced. Their main motive is to acquire the moonlight sword and its heir who can wield its power. It is a relic that can control God as mentioned by the organization’s leader.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

Han Daewi arrives to set things in motion. He takes down the guards and proceeds to the staging area along with Jin Mori. Jin and Han enter fashionably inside the staging area to stop the wedding and to convince Mira to get out of this marriage.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

Seongjin attacks them with a katana but his attempts are thwarted by Han. In this gap, Mori tries to convince Mira to not marry the guy.
It is endearing to see the characters’ friendships bloom. This series tries to flush out their characters one by one. I realize that it is more than the fights and emotions behind each move are what make this anime golden.

Mira’s uncle and her sister, both support her and only wants what’s best for her. They form a supportive influence on Mira and are the main reason for removing imaginary shackles of tradition.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

The words Mori’s grandfather says and what Mira’s father conveys strike a very strong similarity. They are different people yet their beliefs are the same. To do what you want and to follow your path to fulfill your destiny creates a special bond between these two and I believe that fans would be loving this.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

Seongjin retaliates against all three of them as he unlocks a different kind of power. The three of them had seen this power in action before in the tournament and they know that this does not end well.

Mira gets cut by his sword but in a counter-measure, she uses Moonlight sword style No.6 monkey arm to send him flying and decimates him completely.

She lets go of her past insecurities and looks on to the future. With the help of her new friends, she attains a new sense of happiness.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

This happiness is cut short when Han’s friend in the hospital goes into critical condition. A few people bully him in the office he worked in and trash talk on his friend. Something inside Han snaps and he incapacitates them.

The ending of this episode was quite disturbing. When we thought our three main characters were bonding, Mori sees that Han has gone on a rampage and taken it out on Mira. She is left in a pool of blood and the referee had to stop him to avoid any more injury. Everyone wants to reach the top and there is no place for friends there.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 4

He challenges Mori to meet him in the finals and he accepts. I would love to see how Mori handles this issue in his very carefree way.
Can Mori snap Han out of this dismal state?
Or will it consume him and make him a greater threat in the future?
Tell me your opinions in the comments below.

God of Highschool episode 3 : Wisdom / Kingdom – A Review

Hey Everyone!
I’m back with another review.
Today we will be discussing episode 3 of God of Highschool.

God of Highschool, written and illustrated by Yongje Park is produced by Crunchyroll production and adapted from webtoons Manhwa. It discusses a fighting tournament set in Seoul, South Korea, where the best fighter is given any wish fulfilled.

The first scene brings us visuals of a cult surrounded by some members plotting something sinister. They explain that it is almost time to initiate their plans. This is the introduction of the villainous organization.

Photo Courtesy : God of HIghschool episode 3

The scene cuts to Go Ghambda and his former opponent in the hospital. Go Ghambda is in really bad shape and hence he has been disqualified from the tournament. His former opponent is going through a mental breakdown and is also eliminated. Mujin Park and his team of coordinators are deciding on what punishment to give Jin Mori.

Mujin peruses through Jin Mori’s application and finds his grandfather’s name familiar. So he decides that Jin Mori will fight one of the tournament coordinators. If the coordinator is defeated, Jin Mori will be reinstated in the match.

Photo Courtesy : God of HIghschool episode 3

The scene with Yoo Mira starts off with a battle against Mah Misseon. Maa Misseon is a pro wrestler and she taunts Mira by saying that her wooden sword is not going to be a match for her. Mah Misseon brutally beats up Mira and in a series of consecutive attacks takes away her sword. She is left defenseless. Mira uses a no sword style and puts a dent in Mah Misseon, finally incapacitating her.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 3

While leaving the arena, Jin Mori is given a bag of fruits by Mujin Park. He says to him to eat them to replenish his energy. He does this with a very sinister smile. We see a cut scene suggesting that those fruits have some kind of power that might be disastrous for normal humans.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 3

Jin Mori consumes all the fruits and falls to the ground unconscious. Blood seeps out of his body and he is completely incapacitated.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 3

In this episode, we also learn about Han Daewi’s friend who has been hospitalized. This is the same person who he is fighting to earn money for. We find out that he is going through some incurable disease and his sister is working triple shifts to cover up the medical expenses. Han Daewi consoles him as a good friend. You will feel much more relatable to Han after this episode.

The next scene cuts to the arena. Han Daewi is paired against Baek Seungchul, the man who uses a baseball bat. We get to know his fighting style up-close and personal. He memorizes the patterns that fighters use in combat and writes them in his book. He memorizes them and implements them in his fighting style. Han is overpowered by this method. He memorizes the timing of the attacks of his opponent. He gets beat down every single time but he comes back stronger and stronger. In one instant his opponent slipped and he offered to help. It shows how good of a gentleman Han Daewi is.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 3

He is pushed by a raging passion to save his friend. He goes against all odds and releases his final move. A 4 stance karate tactic.
He immobilizes his opponent’s defense, then strikes the main points in his body and incapacitates him. Han Wins the round fair and square.

Photo Courtesy : God of Highschool episode 3

In the final scene, Jin Mori, our hyperactive fighter enters the ring. He takes down the coordinator in an instant. This leads to something horrific releasing from inside him. It captures Jin and tries to kill him. He is stopped by the other coordinators and Jin is the winner. Mujin Park has very sinister plans for Jin. He hopes to never let him go to achieve a certain goal. We will have to wait and see to find out.

My review:

God of High school is turning out to be a force to be reckoned with. Episode 3 and still it is hyping viewers like crazy. Especially, the opening is something I love. It has this crazy new generation feel to it that just makes you want to go crazy. The anime is going in a different than the manhwa but still, it sets the mark and builds characters up on the way. Up until now, everything is looking wonderful for this anime.

Han Daewi needs a special mention here because he is that bad boy type kid with a good heart. Heartwarming characters like this are hard to come by and I appreciate the makers for doing something like this. I would definitely suggest you watch this.
