Hello My fellow Nakama!
Welcome back to another fun-filled anime review.
The One Piece anime has been picking up the pace with the Wano Kuni arc. It has been continuously giving us joy as well as sorrow but its quite necessary to the story. Today we’re going to discuss episode 943 of One Piece.
The attack continues succeeding in the demise of Yasui. An enraged Orochi wants to take out the life of Yasui’s daughter and that is not something that the straw hats will allow. Everywhere they go, hope follows. Zoro and Kyoshiro fight against each other till the very death. They are evenly matched and want to finish each other off.
Sanji goes against X Drake in his Zoan form and it is a pleasant sight to see both of these people fighting parallel to each other after a long time.
The Oniwabanchu appears during the fight and disrupts the momentum. To be honest this episode was enjoyable because of the funny sequences it had to offer. One of the Oniwabanchu appears to be using some sorcery but instead, she was staging for an attack using a tricked-out gun. Hilarious!
As the straw hats are stopped in their tracks by Orochi’s henchmen, Soul King A.K.A Brooke steals the show. He and his electric guitar rile up a surprise for all the ninja. You’ve ever heard of lightning doesn’t strike twice?
We’ll tell that to the ninja who ran like babies when they saw a ghost. Oh, Brooke !!! When will the charade of scaring people stop?
Still, it was damn effective.
As Sanji fights X Drake, he hears the voice of a damsel in distress. I don’t know if that was Observation Haki or the perceptive capabilities of a pervert but he sensed it from a mile away. In a plethora of kicks, he defeats X Drake and rushes to save Hiyori. For Hiyori, who wouldn’t fly like that? 😀
Sanji is just real classy with that finish there. Coming between Sanji and women, X Drake never stood a chance. Sanji flies along the speed of light to save Hiyori but just as he was about to reach there, his ‘not- so favorite’ Marimo, Zoro intervenes.
He butts in and saves Hiyori. The shock on Sanji’s face is priceless. The good old days of One Piece are back. I missed these interactions with the straw hats. The fun and adventure of storytelling are what made One Piece great. It’s all coming back. Oda wanted us to be nostalgic and that is why he separated them for so many years.
Sanji’s shock doesn’t end and he even says that his bounty is more than Zoro’s. The face of a jealous man didn’t look any different. Zoro and Hiyori look pretty cute together btw.
Law approaches the prison where his crewmates have been imprisoned. Waiting for him was Hawkins and he had plans set up for him. In a surprising turn of events, he predicted that law would come in between all the ruckus to try and save his crew. He put everyone separate just in case.
The dastardly smart Hawkins, bound the bodies of all his crewmates to himself using his devil fruit and gave Law a difficult choice of killing him. To kill him is to kill all of his crewmates. Law is stuff in this predicament and is hesitant to do anything at this point.
We shift the focus to Udon prison. The Sumo Inferno continues, the rules have changed. Kid and Killer have been shackled and have been strung up above a big bowl of water. If Luffy and Hyogoro are defeated then Eustass Kid and Killer can escape. That was the deal placed by Queen. The look in Luffy’s eyes of dread truly conveys his feelings towards people.
Ever since the introduction of Queen, he has been shown as Jolly and yet a fiendishly cute villain. This episode put a reverse gear on that perspective. After Luffy rashly challenges Queen, he gets enraged and starts to question Luffy. His intent to kill is felt through every hair in Luffy’s body. He tells Luffy that each one of them was going to die in that prison.
Luffy gets enraged at these words and tells him to shut up. ‘ Overtaken’ one of my favorite One Piece Original Soundtrack plays in the background as Luffy walks towards Queen. ” When it comes to where I die…I’ll do the choosing! ” said Luffy. These were the words that gave hope to all of us.
The symbolisms of freedom are all a definitive part of One Piece and Oda showcases those aspects wherever required. He is a master craftsman who can tug on the right places on your heart and that is why this episode was one of a kind.
A surprise visitor arrives at Udon prison to interrupt this Shindig. ‘ Big Mom’ has entered the area. Until next time. See ya!
